Matt B
All, Just a little advise please, I have had a oil temp gauge in the car for over a year and up untill I had my single put on it would aleways read around 80ish when fully warm. Since having the single put on it now reads around 95ish when warm. I'm just wondering if anyone knows what the temp reading should be??? Just wondering if I need an oil cooler??? Thanks,
richy2jz-gte
think 95 is ok (dependant on oil) but i would fit a cooler to be on the safe side.
SimonB
Ideal would be > 100 (as that drives off any moisture that has got into the oil) but less than 130 I believe. Whether you need an oil cooler depends on what it gets up to when you're giving it some! The last track day I did, mine was getting very high after 15 minutes and I had to let it cool, so I could do with one.
Scarface GTti
Not sure yet about Supras but i`d double check with someone about oil temp as that may be fine because you could do more harm by having your oil too cool.
paul mac
it all depends on where you have the probe, if it is in the sump you will get lower readings, mine is in the sump and 80 sounds the same as mine when warm

It's never been above 100 even when going some....
salvatore
Think mine was running at about 90-ish, with the sensor in the sandwich plate tween the oil filter and engine block. Dont think you want it going above 110-ish. Mine got to 135 when the head gasket went and the head warped beyond repair

Dragonball
Most mpodern synthetics will work well up to 140 degrees! However above 110 for 'prolonged' is not really advisable On trackdays it may go as high as 120/125 95 is spot on IMHO - too low and the oil doesn't flow as well

dude
Matt the reason you have increased oil temp is prob due to the fact that you now have a turbo heating the oil up a lot more than the twins which were water cooled , the only thing cooling the 61 is OIL !!!!!!!!)) degrees is perfect IMO and 85 was a bit low.
