Jake
I'm going to need to top up my WI soon. Obviously I don't want to put tap water in it. Do I have to put distilled water in it or what? Can't just put bottled drinking water in it, right? Where does one get the right stuff from? Thanks
Class One
Are you going to be mixing it?

SteveR
WI = Water injection? I know jack about that, but I do know a bit about water. Mineral water (bottled) is generally full of all sorts of crap. Get some and boil it dry in a pan and 9 brands out of 10 you'll get a nasty residue I wouldn't want in my engine. I'd suggest going down to a local fish shop (pet fish, not chip show ) and ask for some reverse osmosis water. You could buy a filter yourself but it'll be ITRO £300. Most shops will sell 5 litres for a quid or so. You might even know someone with a filter that will sort you out for free? (e.g. a mate of mine keeps marine fish and can't use anything but reverse osmosis water for those picky buggers!) Best check that is suitible for WI first though - I'm sure someone will know. TLicense
Pyrex dish full of water in a large saucepan with the lid on. Bring it gently to the boil, let the water condense against the saucepan lid and drip into the saucepan. Voila distilled water. Alternatively you should be able to buy it from any motor factors (ask them fro distilled water for topping up a battery)

Class One
You can usually buy 5 litres of distilled water at a go in a chemist.
Chris Wilson
Unless you live in an area of very hard water (furred up kettles, knackered washing machines, an inability to make shampoo lather properly, drinking water with sediments that look like a horse with syphilis's sample), then tap water is just fine. Jake
Unfortunately the water is like that here. At least it tastes like proper water though.
