VIL
My luck is rubbish! Coming home from work, felt the car was 'out of sorts' and had that sinking feeling.......yep....put a nail through the front tyre Can anyone tell me if tyre places will repair ZR rated tyres....the bloody thing has got loads of miles left in it yet and I will be well pissed off if I have to buy a new one! DaveK
Yes they will - depending on where the nail was. If it's anywhere near a sidewall - no.
Ibrar Jabbar
I don't see why not, as long as you haven't driven on it flat and the puncture is whithin the stated limits Also make sure it's repaired with a vulcanised plug patch..
RICHARDA
Yep, ZR tyres total of 2 repairs only, if not run flat and in the centre 3/4 of the tyre.
Havard
Where abouts is the damage then?? Oh and why only 2 repairs?? H.
RICHARDA
2 repairs is to do with the speed rating of the tyre and its safety at those speeds.
fishman
slightly off topic but how fast can 'zr' rated tyres go....? Cheers

rick001
I had a nail through mine last week, near the outer wall, guy said a "Factory " repair could be carried out for £15, it has to be sent away, then good as new - had a patch fitted 1st though (im a tight b&%^ard, but was still losing pressure, so will drop it in this week and let you know if its as good as he states

You couldn't even see where the repair had been done when it came back and it survived lots of drag strip and high speed runs Not sure I'd be entirely happy with a patched repair though. Kranz
I thought the vulcanising plug/patch repair was meant to reduce the speed rating of the tyre? What to I can't remember, possibly drops 2 ratings, or to somewhere in the region of 120 mph???? I think this is due to the loss of cord strength where the hole has to be drilled to insert the plug. This unbalances the internal forces within the tyre (in simple terms) that hold the tyre together at extreme speeds. I certainly wouldn't trust a 150mpg plus autobahn stormer with a plugged tyre. A factory fixed tyre may be different?? The 'factory repair' sounds the best bet.
