Vantage
Covered just over 1100 miles in my first week of ownership, of my standard J spec TT. Do I need Octane Booster , why I ask is that due to mileage sometimes have no choice to put in 95 - 97 RON fuel, but read somewhere that Japanese cars , of that age irrespective of being an import or not, were designed to run on 99 RON. If I do need Octane booster, who can reccomend one , based upon long term usage? Can it be bought in 5 litres? Many thanks James
silvershark44
I believe most octane boosters are pretty rubbish mate, they dont boost as much as they think you do. You would be better off locating some shell garages on your sat nav.
Thorin
Forget octane boosters, you don't need them, and as Silvershark says most are rubbish anyway. Only decent octane booster IMO is mixing in 10% Toluene. I certainly would not use normal unleaded in a TT though. Shell V-Power or BP Ultimate, but even the supermarket forecourts have Super unleaded everywhere now (Tesco 99RON!) so I don't see why it would be a problem. Vantage
thanks gents, will try and organise journeys around BP & Shell re TESCO - they may have 99 RON but don't like the silicon contaminates that could come my way as they broker market for cheap fuel supplies !!!! Whitesupraboy2
It is safe to run a TT on unleaded if needed, however stay off boost as much as possible and definatly no full throttle. I run my BPU daily driver supra on Tesco 99 RON and no problems. P.s centre caps went off fine yesterday
Jake
At stock boost levels 95 is ok if you have to. If you're running anything over stock boost then you should use 97RON or above. Obviously 98 or 99RON is better but 97 will be fine.

Best thing to do is put a tenner in it, and fill her up with shell as soon as possible. I personally hate usuing BP, i think its crap and always more expensive than Shell. RedM
I know of a few BPU Supras using Sainsburys SUL with no ill effects. Mine doesn't run too well on it though.
dr_blackman
My n/a doesn't like normal unleaded, she seems sluggish with it! Not to sure about the Tesco 99 rons fuel in it either, she's drives lovely with shell v-power... I think its odd as i've read on here that na's are fine on the other fuels, yet mine doesnt run as well lol
Alex
Shell V Power, Tesco SUL and BP Ultimate...use all 3...infact it's probably best to have a mixed bag tank.
