I learned that the short posterior ciliary artery is one of approximately seven branches of the ophthalmic artery which pass around the optic nerve to supply the eyeball. Dividing into some 15-20 branches, they penetrate the sclera adjacent to the optic nerve, supplying the choroid and ciliary processes.

My girlfriend is studying for her Opthalmic Optician finals!!!

Boiling water freezes quicker than cold water.

surely that's not true? an old wives tale?

I've also learnt that the mkivsupra.net forum is an excellent place to procrastinate both when at work and when at home (but maybe I knew that already)

Interesting read Trev :) I do vaguely remember hearing about it but it's so counter intuitive I think I'd since kinda dismissed it.

Notice though it's only under very specific conditions, not a general case (the vast majority of cases will behave as expected).

Still odd all the same and as yet not fully explained, I feel some shed experiments coming on lol

That's absolute tosh :) The claim is that hot WATER freezes faster than cold WATER, therefore you can't introcude the side effects of environmental factors as a mechanism to prove such.

The most I can get from that web page is that hot water sometimes appears to freeze more cuickly that cold water, but this is largely down to experimental error. It doesn't sound like it hasn't ben explained yet, rather that no-one has been sufficiently bothered to design a reliable, repeatable experiment to investigate it yet.

Fair enough, I get funny things go on with my thermal testing at work so could have believed it was true.

On a more interesting note, Digs, have you added that 't' into your sig? I'm sure it wasn't our lord and saviour mentioned in there before!! :D

I've learnt not to have a drink just before I go to bed, I have to get up 5 times during the night to go to the loo.
That's just age. ;)

I learned that RainX works on house windows too when I cleaned 'em and applied it just before it p'd down on me. :).
