Homer
Christ, thats still not very good, though the WG ports are much larger.
Nic
2) HKS 50mm gates come with 0.8/9bar springs by default... The HKS wastegates are sold with different springs rates http://www.hks-power.co.jp/products/turbo/support/waste/waste.html
Homer
if you drive a 20k+ car which most of us do why the hell would you buy a cheap manifold? it's beyond me I took a risk and went with the XS kit as a base. The manifold is fine, the welding is good, the porting smooth and the vent to the wastegate suitable. It represented a £1.5k saving over premier kits and so far has proved perfectly capable. It's 3k miles in so far and there is no sign of a problem. Boost builds solidly to 1.4 bar and is rock solid in any gear. It's not proving a problem for me or many others using this manifold. Clearly Gaz has a duff one so that needs looking into by the suppliers.

I hope it continues to work well for you and proves to be reliable.
Nic
I've no shots of the inside of my HKS manifold, but I do remember the welding/finish on the inside, was just as neat as it was on the outside. Yes they are a few times the price of the XS power manifold, but there is a huge difference in the quality, design and fabrication. http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/1140/cimg0007xy8.jpg http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/8089/cimg0008oy2.jpg

Nic
me too i wish i know more about best, worse, makes:( Cost is usually a good indication of quality, in general I still believe you get what you pay for. For example XS Power Manifold and wastegate = £250 http://www.xs-power.co.uk/shop/images/2jzgte46128.jpg HKS Manifold and wastegate = approximately £1100 http://www.hks-power.co.jp/products/turbo/support/set/img/image_01.jpg When you compare the fabrication, materials used, design, R&D, quality control, etc. you can see why one is over 4 times the price of the other. The end result? One is fit for purpose, the other it seems is not.

JustGav
what would have caused this Is it possible the gasket let go, and hot gasses were allowed to escape out the side of the joint?
GeordieSteve
Ouch! Do you have a screamer pipe pointed directly at the hose or is the hose made of rubber?!?!?!? lol
AndyT
what would have caused this Serious looking failure mate. Looks like a clip was done up in the wrong place ie no pipe under the hose. Other than that, dunno.
