dr_blackman
Just taken my car to my local motorsport garage.... Went to start her to move across the drive so my brother could get his car out and she was reluctant but started... Then 15mins later should wouldn't start or even turn over.... Battery is full charged and everything, been running fine lol.... Jump leaded her to get her down to the garage.... I'm guessing its a dodgy starter motor, any thoughts? Just paid £180 tax today and used all my spare money for my holiday for next week, god damn it lol.. Shit always happens at the same time dont it Dave. tooquicktostop
If the battery was fine as you say but then jump leads were used and started the car would you not think that all may not be well with your battery after all ??
gaz1
possibly starter motor or battery, when you started it the fiirst time was it turning over slowly , 2nd time was it clicking,

dr_blackman
No gaz, it started twice in a row then but very reluctant, before it went into clicking mode when i tried 15mins or so later... but all the electrics and alarm seem to have power, its weird

Scooter
Well the battery gauge on the dash was said it was fine, and when i looked ta the battery i have a little battery indicator on the battery showing green which says its fine.... i thought it was weird too.... but it started it when i used jump leads from another car? 98 car, does it have a 'small' battery? dash indicator AFAIK is only to check the alternator is charging..... Starting hits the battery hard, multiple starts with no recharging (ie driving!) may tip a tired battery over the edge........other electrics may seem normal for a while longer... If jumping it works then shagged battery has to look likely, no?
dr_blackman
Yeah you could be right scooter, the battery indicator under the bonnet on the battery said it was fine though so i guess ill find out tomorrow when the garage phone..... Fingers crossed it isn't expensive lol... my bank will start to hate me the amount of money i've taken out of my account the last 2 months with holiday, new wheels and tyres etc, manifold lol. Saying that 1st time in 6 months my supra has let me down!

Jspec Germany
Starter contacts could be going. Mine was like that for a bit, then a jump didn't even work. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=51682&highlight=starter+contacts

SUPRALOOPY
Just change the battery. Voltage view and cranking drain are two totaly different things. You could drop test the battery to see how good it is (no not chuck it on the floor)
dr_blackman
Thanks for the feed backs peeps! Henk - Mine sounds very similar aspecially the dodgy idle! mine was real low like 500 felt like it was going to stall when i took it to the garage.... so hopefully it maybe just a battery then! Will keep you informed when i find out myself

dr_blackman
Right my garage has phoned, she was flat as a pancake this morning, he's charged the battery and it seems to be holding a charge... i told him exactly what happened yesterday, so its really strange lol Bascially i've told him i need my car everyday so replace the battery as it sounds like it could be dodgy! He says everything else is fine. Hope it is the battery now lol.
