VVti Speed Signal Conversion

ey up folks,

I've just picked up my first MKiv , well about a week ago now.

I'm still getting to grips with how the car drives but....... there seems to be a problem with the auto box kicking down whan pushing along about say 80ish. The box kicks down and forces the engine into the rev-limiter.

I've done a search and it seems the obvious place to start looking is the speedo conversion.

Does anyone know where I can find the info as to how the mods should be done on this model? The car is a 1998 VVTi (tiptronic). Once I know how it should be done I can start looking.......

Thanks in advance,

mark

Hi Mark

Speak to Pete Betts at TRL

http://www.trlperformance.com/

He sorted my speedo converter out on my VVTi tiptronic, the shift point are now fine and the speedo is accurate compared to the GPS.

The poxy traction control has still got a mind of its own though :( It doesn't really matter, as I always switch it off as a matter of course now.

Geoff,

thanks for the reply, I did think I may finish up at the feet of mr betts, I just thought it was a bit cheeky asking for help without actually buying a converter from him :)

I know what you mean with regards the TC, flippin good-for-nothing waste of time IMO!!!

cheers

Nope, so far the TC only goes into snow mode after wheelspin :innocent:

Then you have to be quick to turn it off!!!

Maybe you still have a sensor problem somewhere?

I dare say I'll finish up with the TRL solution, I will let you know if I have the same probelm after fitting.

cheers,
