Gerry Posted June 19, 2007 Share Posted June 19, 2007 you may remember that we bought a "Smart" whilst we were waiting for our new Supe to come from Japland - and it was so much fun we kept it ! We had a Stage 1 remap on it which gives lots more power from it's mighty 700cc turbo'd engine which ment that it went off the speedo (80) but didn't like going round corners quickly. Soo followed me home recently and in the rear view her "spirited driving" round the corners & roundabouts looked frightening, the little 41/2" fronts looked like they were going to give way at any time - so... Had it lowered & stiffened today and some wide wheels on it (and Stage2 tune as well) ! It's a different car, goes round corners brilliantly and feels really steady, lots more pull as well. If you have a Smart (and I know there are a couple in the club) you got to have it done... Can't wait to have a blast in the dry (was raining today) ! The great thing about "modding" a Smart is that it's a lot cheaper than the Supe (although that's booked in at Knight Racer and Turbofit next month... Just heard that Digitec have developed a new map that will take it over 100 BHP Doesn't sound a lot but do the maths on a car weighing 720 Kg ! We'll be frightening the NA's soon.... Just done some sums on http://www.letstorquebhp.com/rwd.asp?sort=Power_BHP and I recon that with just over 100 BHP It will do 0-60 in 7.5 secs. Quick for a Smart, but hardly Santa Pod stuff. Don't mind spending a limited amount, but when all is said and done it's still a Smart Car, although it's brill when everybody tries to overtake you out of a roundabout only for them to be left in the outside lane behind me...
