Jake
I've put a 500gb sata disk in my PC. At first xp did the 'found new hardware' thang but the new disc wasn't showing up(not listed in My Computer). So I went into Computer Management/Disk Management and followed the setup wizard and did a Quick Formet etc. But now the disk is showing as Dynamic rather than Basic and the Layout is shown as Simple rather than Partition. What did I do wrong? ....And how do I put it right?
Thorin
"After you convert a basic disk into a dynamic disk, any existing partitions on the basic disk become (dynamic) simple volumes. You cannot change the dynamic volumes back to partitions." You'd have to reformat it I presume.
Thorin
Press F1 in disk manager and search for... dynamic disks, reverting to basic disk
Jake
Ah. Cheers Michael. I never even looked at the Windows Help - it's usually so basic as to be no help at all. So it seems I can just leave it as Dynamic without any problems. I'm not planning on going back to win98 or anything.
