ivan
No loss in my opinion. I think there's far too much violence in all the media these days. No wonder the kids have got no regard for anyone else if they're brought up on this sort of stuff.
Cable
I think that depends on the parents, there are a lot of parents which in my mind should never have been allowed to breed. agreed

It's an adult game with an adult certification - if kids get hold of it then it's a reflection on them for obtaining it illegally, parents for allowing them to play it and retailers for supplying them with these things in the first place... isn't it? Parents assume that only kids play computer games so in their eyes all computer games for sale are for kids.
ivan
You know as well as I do that the kids WILL get hold of it. They always do. If they can't buy it they'll just get it warez. Parents? Don't make me laugh. Half of them don't know what their kids get up to and don't care either. It's not just the games though - violence and violent images are all pervading these days. You lot moan about irresponsibility and kid gangs etc but then defend this type of stuff. You should make your flippin minds up. Just another sign of the times I suppose. Ark
I know it's not the same, but I've been playing a lot of "Dead Rising" recently - zombie slaying with such cool tools as a lawn mower, or the obligatory chainsaw...18 rating, red 'blood' and lots of violence...and it does get into your head. Mind you the puzzles are good and you stop thinking of the zombies as such and just see them as obstacles.
tbourner
I hate all the crap about films/games/music affecting kids and making them kill people/themselves. Just look at the crap that M. Manson gets, he's a devout Christian teetotal bloke who loves his mum, his lyrics are actually quite nice if you read them as a poem (for example), yet he gets blamed for people's kids killing themselves - I say those kids were probably a bit wrong to start with!!! 99% of people will play the game, like it or hate it, eventually put it down and go and make a sandwich. It's the one's who are either too young to really know right from wrong or the ones who are a bit mental already that are the problem. Having said that, my mate said to me when he joined the Police that the first death he went to just didn't look real, he wasn't disturbed by the guy who shot himself in the roof of the mouth with a double barreled rifle and had 1 eye hanging half out it's socket and brain splattered on the lining of his car, because of what he'd seen in films and games the 'real thing' looked faked!! SMiFFAD
Surely banning a game makes the certificate system a pointless waste of time? Or is this just parents who cant control/dont care about what their kids do blaming something else for their own shortcomings.. Release it as an 18, punish retailers and parents if kids get hold of it. This country is becoming far too wrapped up in cotton wool - and i dont even play games consoles! They will ban all car games next as they encorage us all to go out and drive like rally drivers/street racers, depending on if you played need for speed or WRC that morning

I agree, although hypocritical (*sp) as I used to watch many films whilst underage with my parents consent Robocop, Total Recall spring to mind, and one of my favourite ever games is Target Renegade on the C64, punch a bloke, nick his baseball bat, and batter him with it However, I was also taught right from wrong, and not once have I attacked anyone with their own baseball bat, shot anyone with a gun holstered in my thigh, or attempted to use alien technology to create breathable air on Mars, whilst thwarting the attempts to kill me by a futuristic corporate entity...
