Bugger. Feeling very pleased with myself for buying a new fan shroud and painting it:

Only to take out the old one and find that it had a hole like this:

For this other fan that I knew nothing about :stupid:

Should I just cut a similar hole in the new shroud? I can't really take it back to Toyota now that it's silver :baa:

They are the same height, just at different angles in the pics.

What is that fan????

And what would happen if I didn't have it! I presume it's just for extra cooling for the radiator and I would be ok without it short term, keeping an eye on temp???

It's an extra electric fan, I used to think it was something to do with the aircon but I'm not so sure as the aircon system is wholly seperate from the cooling system. I'm guessing it's for cooling the radiator area where the big fan just doesn't reach. The facelift has two fans there, in a much nicer bracket :p

I'd cut the shroud for it, I wouldn't remove the fan

I had to get things back together this afternoon, so I've stuck it in without the other fan for the moment:

I guess I'll take it back out at the weekend and cut a hole for the other fan
