Matt B
All, After seeing 250 horse's new mota and how clean the engine bay is I'm thinking of getting mine steam cleaned. The place I've found says they can do it for £22 but that I should check with the manufacturer to see if it's okay to do it? Has anyone here had their bay done? Any advice appreciated. Thanks,
BigRoy
I wouldnt do it. Steam and all those electrics dont mix!
Alex
How about if you disconnect all the power and can say heat the car up in a paint drying booth afterwards? Or just a really hot sunny day?
BigRoy
It'll end in tears!
Matt B
Do you reckon 250's is that clean without steaming it? I'm not sure.
Guest The Flash
I wouldnt do it. Steam and all those electrics dont mix! Oh well - I had the exact same thoughts after seeing 250's just now - guess thats £22 towards more advertising rather than cleaning
Supragal
Most people say no but IIRC Chris Wilson does it all the time and has had no problems....
Muffleman
I've done it to a few of my cars, old bangers too - and never had a problem. Matt

Suprash
I have steamed cleaned my TT a couple of times now, each time, she starts on the button, no coughing, and drives of as good as new. The NA, always throws at least 3 plugs, and consequently ends up running on half her cylinders, which means a PITA to just change the sparks. Maybe its the different design on the top of the block that causes this on the NA to the TT, but in both cases, all electrics have been fine......... But who knows, I have heard of stories of people having to replace whole wiring looms as they have had problems, as I said these are mearly stories, and someone said CW does it all the time. But at the same time, I wouldnt want anyone to mess up their car......

Tom
Did you do this in the end Matt?
RICHARDA
I have jet washed mine loads of times. I found a good tip is to put/wrap plastic bags (tesco bags etc) round anything that looks electric and vunerable. I know this is not specific but there is plenty of electrics under there. Just remember to remove them afterwards. HTH Rich
