wallace9
Did anyone listen to the live set last night on Radio 1?? Only one word needs to be said......Awesome!!
Branners
well thats one word....not one I would use. I heard a live track on Chris Moyles yesterday morning and had to change channel, and then the live track this morning was almost as bad. That bird needs to lay off the cymbals (sp?) for a while. Supragal
I have to say they don't do it for me, live or otherwise. I'm feeling unispired by recent band offerings I have to say.
wallace9
I love them Think Jack White is the best guitar player I've heard. I do prefer the older bluesy stuff though.

Mike
Also a big fan here... Hardest Button to Button is my favourite track.. I just got the new album, but not listened to it yet.. It's in the queue behind the Queens of the Stone Age and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club albums How much good music is out at the minute?! Snooze
I'm liking the Twang album, despite the bit of a ribbing it got from the music press. Jack Penate is my tip for an up-and-coming. Went to see him live a couple of weeks ago (supporting the Maccabees), and he was ace on stage. Saw BRMC last year but found their live performance really quite bland. They were totally upstaged by The Cooper Temple Clause who were supporting, IMO!
Mike
Charlotte's caining Camera Obscura and Kate Nash at the minute... quite nice in a girly kind of way
Mike
Yeah, BRMC are the most explosive live set?! we've seen them a couple of times and they do come off a bit stagnant live... just love the sound of them though... you don't really get music like them any more.. they 'mean' it! Snooze
I'm impressed that Camera Obscura are still going - they've been around for a while. The last album was pretty good - not enamoured with them myself, but a friend saw them live and was v. impressed.
wallace9
I really like Cold War Kids album. Would reccomend the Black Keys too.
Mike
I really like Cold War Kids album. Would reccomend the Black Keys too. I'll check them out... this is turning into a good thread Jack Penate Cold War Kids The Black Keys Any more? Try 'Blonde Redhead', '23' - if your a bit of a shoe gazery wall of sound type.. odd, but strangely compelling.
wallace9
You could try the 22-20's. They only managed 1 album before splitting up but its good fast tempo rock and roll!!
Dr_Doom
I saw them live at Glastonbury the other year & they were really good!.. I wouldn't mind seeing them again...

Gave me a bit of a St Etienne/Stereolab feel! If you want some recent old-school shoegazing, check out Air Formation! Oh - just remembered - the "Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly" album is the last I bought - probably worth a listen. I notice Kate Nash supported him on a recent tour.
