Chris Wilson
The whole thing is such a shambles that without remains a British court would have to return an open or not guilty verdict, given the evidence the media have seemingly brought to the publics attention, assuming charges were brought. God knows how the Portugese legal system will handle it though. Personally I loathe the media and file them away with estate agents and social workers, and feel that the case only got this much publicity due to the parents jobs, looks and the location of the event (free jollies in the sun). Had it been some dysfunctional family in Milton Keynes who were party to similar happenings I doubt it would have lasted more than a couple of days coverage. I also feel the media have again contributed to what may end up a legal fiasco with only litigious lawyers benefiiting.
Guru
Well put Chris. I just hope they find her alive and find who kidnapped her....
tbourner
I've only just heard about this story, well last night actually, and now seen this mahoosive thread (I hate the news as much, if not more than CW, so just don't watch it). Anyhoo. Do we know that the McCanns hired the car at the start of the trip (ie: Before the 'disappearance'?), or was it only hired after the 25 days or whatever? Obviously that's quite a major point. And, it's perfectly concievable that it was an accidental death (whether angry beatings, or overdose on sleeping tablets to 'keep her quiet' while they had dinner etc.), and they pannicked, well her mainly, and he agreed that they could get away with it if they made up a huge kidnapping story, cos nobody would suspect the people who fought so hard!! Then the whole donations and pope thing would just be a case of "We've come this far, to come clean now would be silly.". 2 doctors who can't bare to lose their jobs and their lives over an accident, aided by the excuse (to themselves) that they "must get away with it for the sake of the other kids". Chris Wilson
You missed employment agencies. I have no experience of them, my old form master said I was unemployable, and as he had never lied about anything else I just avoided the places
tbourner
I always have a lot of respect for you guys that work in Nuclear subs. People usually say things like that, or normally just "Where have you been!!", but with the anti-media spoutings in this thread and everyone turning on them saying "They write what they want" and "The Sun will change it's tune etc.", it's funny that people are so suprised when someone doesn't buy into it so easily!! My experiences are different to that, i went through an agency for a job that i got which i start on Monday. Everything went really smoothe and straight forward. I even got a congratulations card from the bloke at the agency this moning.
ivan
I suppose the hair in the car could easily have come from Maddies toy which Mrs Mcann seems to have by her side constantly...
Guest Chumpalot
I suppose the hair in the car could easily have come from Maddies toy which Mrs Mcann seems to have by her side constantly... Apparently there was so much hair they ruled out cross contamination. This could only mean that her body was stored in the car for some time.
