Ryan.G
Well was mapping a mr2 to 2bar boost running a gt series turbo at weekend think was 35 and on the drive back after mapping the owner decided to put a couple of bikes in there place and boy did this thing shift anyhow got to around 5000rpm in 5th and there was this almight bang and lose of boost. So decided to look in engine bay to see which pipe had blown off and was shocked to see this. Was mainly down the heat from the exhaust manifold i think but boy was it a big bang. Scared the crap out of bikers too

JohnA
This sort of failure doesn't happen very often. There must have been a flaw in the hose, the clamps stayed in place and still it was torn from the inside:blink:
Ryan.G
I think it was just down to the heat from manifold tbh you can see it in pic
Alex
Tell the owner to get a turbo blanket ASAP!!! I can't believe people leave their RED HOT exhaust housings uncovered so they can melt anything in range.

Ryan.G
Dont think turbo blanket would have stopped this look how close the exhaust manifold runners are to pipe. LOL The other funny thing was it was running 205 tyres as drag tyres were illegal on road i left leaving him a list of things to change asap
Alex
You'd be amazed what heat wrap and turbo blankets can achieve!
