Sheefa Posted June 11, 2007 Share Posted June 11, 2007 Bugger. This only cropped up yesterday too and I'm trying to sell the damn thing! When I turn the aircon on, she works fine for about 6-8 seconds and then all of a sudden there's a horrible whirling/grating sound like somethings catching or the fan is dying. I haven't changed anything in the engine bay, so no idea what could of suddenly caused this. When I turn the AC off it takes about 10 seconds for the whirling sound to stop. Could it be something catcing as suggested by Rich? I haven't had a good look yet, but wondered if there's any other checks I could do too? I could just rip the annoying fooker out, but knowing me I'd take out the RAD and FMIC by mistake too, and demolish them. Cheers, Greg Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you have a look around your cambelt, there's a wheel that locks onto another wheel to turn on the aircon compressor. It's when the two lock that you get this sound. I wouldn't worry about it. But it was damaged in the impact of the little mishap I had on the Midlands Gumball if you remember, but has worked fine since. Bob - enough of your perverted abuse!
