The car is still for sale. The car has a prive plate at the moment, but the DVLA are dealing with the retention now so it should have the regular reg on in the next week or so.

I do hope you meant that as a joke. The car has been serviced by Jemca (main toyota dealer, London) and their jap imports wing JEM since we bought the car in 1999. They should have records of this car's mileage for the 8 years that we've owned it.

Please do not post comments which suggest that anything in my advert is not genuine when you have not even seen the car.

What does go without saying is that any inspection is welcome.

that told u ellis but to be honest davidc he has got a point , it may but a few buyers off, the that car has gotta be as nearly clean as mine

No it wouldn't it's an analogue odo, as each number creeps up so do the others. My facelift (and every other car without a digital odo) is exactly the same.

The definition of the word forum is:

  1. The public square or marketplace of an ancient Roman city that was the assembly place for judicial activity and public business.
  2. A public meeting place for open discussion.
  3. A medium for open discussion or voicing of ideas, such as a newspaper, a radio or television program, or a website.

A public meeting or presentation involving a discussion usually among experts and often including audience participation.

A court of law; a tribunal.

The current statistics for clocked cars on our road is:1 in 3 have had their mileage tampered with costing the industry over £100M per year.

The most common way to spot a clocked car is misaligned figures on an analogue odometer.

I'm merely asking a question on an open forum to which, if it's not an issue, the response is: No, its genuine, the car is BIMTA certified which provides a Certificate of Authenticity check on vehicles, which checks to make sure that a vehicle has not been reported stolen, has no outstanding finance, has not been written off and has been de-registered, at the point of sale in Japan. An odometer check is also available, which provides a comparison between the current reading and the odometer reading recorded at auction in Japan.

Goodnight:d

Ellis - I take your point and appreciate that many imported cars out there are not completely genuine. However, I do feel it's rude to post something like that in response to an advert in a 'for sale' forum, especially when you are not familiar with the actual car for sale.

When JEM suggested that I advertise the car on this forum I was expecting advice and/or enquiries from enthusiasts.

So far what I've got is a 2 page thread questioning the legitimacy of the mileage on the car, even though my original advert has named a main Toyota dealer who can verify the mileage. The mileage is genuine and ANY INSPECTION IS WELCOME.

Price reduced to £6100 ovno.

The private reg is now on retention, so the car is ready to sell.

If you're looking for an unmodified SZ, I confident that this is probably the best condition example you will find.

I'm not seeing anywhere here is it a vvti? I am taking it that the car is a genuine facelift from factory as it certainly looks like it is. The wheels look like they are the 17"s with the 4 pot brake option which is a very good selling point to raise. Hotlinking the pictures will also assist this ad so you don't have to trawl through those links individually. I'll be honest here you could have a wait on your hands as people that are prepared to pay good money for a good car seem to be thin on the ground at the moment with so many "cheaper" alternatives. Stick with it and try not to let the comments and silly offers get you down.

What makes you think it would be? Its a excellent example of an SZ model, but the general consensus is that the SZ (in RHD) never came in VVTi, sales brochures and (I think) all the facelift NA's on this forum back this up.

Really I learn something new every day. I always assumed that the vvti was fitted to all models after a certain year in and around 1996.

I thought 96 was when the face lift came in, odo clocks, side lights, front and rear lights etc, and then 98 was when the VVT-i came in, how many 98> N/A's do we have on the board......?

Faye, what year is yours again.........

As i think Faye has said previously, none that we know of......

Even the 2002 na on here isn't VVTi...........there was a late car in the stock Yellow that was the advertised as VVTi but it wasn't confirmed........

He's a 98, but this chaps for sale thread probably isn't the place for a full on discussion!!!

Yeah granted but with only 15 posts and selling a car and having not come back much to say alot at his own party I can't see the chap hanging around after the car sells. No offence chap thats just the way it looks :D

Like I said before though the car looks a nice model and 98's are very rare. Did you check to see if it has the bigger 4 pot brakes fitted?
