You can actually pay to go on that track. They give you tuition and then you get to do several laps (from a standing start) so you can compare your times against the stig, and the celebrities.

So if you want to get a time in your Supra, knock yourself out!

See the stig could really capatalize on this buy setting up a "i'll run what you've brung day" people I'm sure would pay x amount for him to drive your car around the track to see how fast he can get it and you get a few laps too.

I like that idea, you could see it now, queues miles long, Im sure the production team could make good telly viewing out some of the things that would turn up......;)

I'm gonna go out on a limb here but who gives a flying **** about what JC in his bunch of inbred fame monkeys think about the Supra. The only thing I care about on the road is what I can spank & what I can't & the only way I'll learn is by trying myself, not what some STIG tells me.

I'd lend them my stock TT, but only if I could have a nice cup of tea with James. He's so sweet!

You are mental. There was a thread in the Porsche forum when they used a 996TT and gave it back to the owner completely and utterly knackered. There is a reason why TG get the press cars last.

So you wouldnt like to see your car on tv, hopefully doing a respectable performance.........I dont understand why you wouldnt, and thats what this is about, appeciation for our car, so someone spends a few hours putting something together, theres not much effort needed from everyone........click, sign, close......hell I would even go and take them out to a meet, people always get dragged into the culture, no matter their back ground, they just need to be shown its a good idea....... ;)

JC gets on my tits, I've heard a story about him 1st hand that turned me against him instantly (as car journalist). IMHO TG and what it stands for is a farce, and whether Supras get recognition or not on there makes no difference to me. My car (and all your Supra's too) have nothing to prove on TG, I appriciate my car, I appreciate all your cars, I think the Supra is too much of a car to appear on JC's crappy TG!

Sorry Ash, but no, if he turned up himself at my door I'd tell him to get his fat hairy head off my property :D. IMHO TOTB is the finest way to prove the superiority of the Supra against all other models to the people that care, if MKIV.net could win that, it would mean much more to me than any TG appearance.

Just for telling JC that, I'll let you have this one......

can you expand on this mate?

OK, a while ago (many years now) JC did did an article on the top Cosworths in the country, then he was a legend and the Cossie boys that turned up for his video were expecting him to at least to socialise with them. I was told that during that day he diddn't want anything to do with any of the lads (had his dinner on his own etc - wouldn't even entertain much conversion with them). I was told that in the video that followed, it showed him drifting etc, where as the Cossie boys said that it was I stunt driver doing all the decent driving.

In my opinion (me being a down to earth working chap), he is a pompous turd, not even talking to the people he was making the story about is just absurd, and the fake driving has put me off him forever.

If we can get a more than a few cars there this year it'll be a start ;)

Gaz.

Gaz I'd love to take part in TOTB. My problem is my racing experience is limited to mainly road racing (as sad as that sounds), I've only had the Supe for less than a year and just gone single so my times around the time attack track would be average at best. I think ATM the car is going to out-perform me. The again I'm always up for a challenge :D

Plenty time to fix that Jay, few track days, bit of drag racing and jobs a good 'un :D

He's a local chap where I live. Whilst I agree that he does come across as a pompous old twat, he does a tremendous amount of charity work in my area. He helps kids in the local childrens homes, he funds the local open air swimming pool and supports the helen House Hospice for the terminally ill.

He doesn't do this to earn favour with the locals. He does it because he can. I think that is a true measure of the man. What you see on the telly and read about him may be one thing, and personally I think he's a bit too far up his own arse these days, but he has gone up tremendously in my estimation as a person when I found that stuff out tonight.

The late Ronnie Barker was a Chipping Norton resident and was also a local benefactor to the community. Clarkson has taken over where he left off, and I think that says far more about him as a person that his on screen and in print persona.

one more thing to consider guys as soon as the supra hits Top Gear as super car from £4000 every saxo, corsa, fiesta, escort, punto and matiz driver is gonna want one so we end up with more members and the price of the car goes up to match the demand

TBH entering TOTB was a dream of mine (always wanted to do it with the MR2 crowd - IMOC - such a great bunch), I thought I could win at one point in my naivity, get an 503E engine, but you can't compete against the big tuners these days.

It's all just a bit of fun for the privateers, I'm keeping an eye on the TOTB entry thread, if the car goes well for the rest of the month, I might have a word with Chris Birbeck rally school to get some tuition, one thing I would love to see is for MKIV to carry away the TOTB title
