michael
EVO magazine has a really nice booklet for the event this month, tells you a few places to go, must see bits, good roads to use on the way in and so on... apparently Audi have set up a small castle thing on the way down so Audi owners can pull in for a free dring and a massage. Bobbeh
Yeah 75th anniversary this year isnt it.. should be a great weekend if the weather stays good! Doug, I've heard someone mention something about fines/points being transferable to UK licences this year? Can you confirm that?
Ian C
I'm not really going to be there till Saturday as I'm in Lyon on Friday and Monaco on Thursday... Gaz. SimonB
I'll be at the Chappelle (sp?) grandstand at 9pm french time if anyone wants to meet up I'm the tall one -Ian A hotel and a grandstand ticket? You really are going soft! We'll be on the N138 all the way too as usual, love that road! Gace was a bit weird last year - it was pretty deserted compared to previous years when it's been chock full of exotic cars. I'll be in the Houx campsite again this year somewhere. We're going for flames this year instead of stripes, orange ones apparently. So my car should be hard to miss...
Class One
I'll be at the Chappelle (sp?) grandstand at 9pm french time if anyone wants to meet up I'm the tall one -Ian Where's that Ian? If you see this after 5am on 12/06 I'll be gone but you've got my mobile in the contacts section. I'll be the fat bloke in the club t shirt. scooby_doo_do
yep, jenine's bar (or however you spell it) is out the main entrace, turn right, go under the bridge, and its on the right. normally it gets quite funny there as they make the car's go single file and the beermountain crew are normally quite fun. 4packet
Bob regarding the speeding they seem to just make you bend over and withdraw. In more extreme cases (friend at 210km/hr 2 weeks ago) they will ban you from driving in France (his case 6 months + E750) so it is worth having a spare driver and a good source of folding or electric money! No point in me adding anything about Le Mans must do's, I think its all been covered in this thread! Hopefully see you around in le sarthe Martin
Bobbeh
So thats not carried over to UK licenses? Thats all I'm worried about Anyway, im just gonna be cruising down and will enjoy the scenery
4packet
No - they returned his UK license a week later stating he had a 6 month ban in France but without points (this would not be his first run in either!). It has been runoured for some time now that they can get the UK authorites involved but either it's not true or they do not bother. I think they do OK out of good old fashioned fines and the paperwork to involve UK authorites is no doubt horrendous. I find scenery is best enjoyed when it varies quickly! Bobbeh
Can anyone recommend any good camping grounds? What do people usually do, just get down there and find a spot among the masses or book in advance for a pitch or something?

They all sell out ages in advance, you can't just turn up! If you can find someone else with one you can do the old swicheroo - send them in and then walk out with the ticket and put it in your car. You could try one of the package operators like justtickets or page&moy, they may have something left they haven't sold.
Havard
Can anyone recommend any good camping grounds? What do people usually do, just get down there and find a spot among the masses or book in advance for a pitch or something? Bobbeh, Have a look at my earlier post in this thread. Opposite Janines Bar there is a place called Circuit De Expositions where you can buy your track tickets. Last year we paid E22 for a parking only spot in the middle of the track and then just set up camp near a big pond. The stewards shouldn't give you any trouble either. The parking place is right near the big roundabout where all the brits are dicking about!! The Houx Annexe roundabout near Indianapolis corner!! You will struggle to miss it tbh!! H. Bobbeh
Yeah I did read your original post.. sorry but the names dont mean much to me right now I've got all the laps etc loaded in the GPS with POI and hotels around the area. I'm also looking at campsites around Le Mans for ideas.. obviously something near the track would be prefered but Im not too fussed if its a short drive in the morning to get places.
