ivan
When at idle, does turning on the aircon result in the revs dropping slightly? Mine doesn't and the aircon's not pumping out any cold air.
fishman
dont really know but in some cars when you turn your aircon on you can lose a few HP...
Paul Whiffin
Can you hear the pump kicking in at all?
ivan
Can't see or hear that the switch makes any difference at all other than turning the light on. I'm just checking the AC_Heater_System PDF to see which fuses and relays I need to check. I hope it's not the compressor gone.
Paul372
mine aircon compressor went it seized big time and snaped the fanbelt, check and see if the pully on the aircon compressor spins freely with the belt off, if it does then its ok and also if there is no grining sound coming from the compressor then i say its ok because its the bearings in the compressor that goes
ivan
No, it's definitely not siezed. It's more a question of whether it's engaging in the first place.
Branners
when the aircon system loses all its gas it wont engage. I would get it to a regasser and get it checked over. I had mine regassed last year but its all leaked out again so I have a leak somewhere. JB
Flip
Any decent and cheap regassers in and around the Bracknell, Camberley, Reading area? Mine needs doing to...
Paul372
i was nt saying that it has seized just saying it might be on its way out if you can hear the bearings, get it regassed like branners said it might be that

ivan
feel sorry for you mate no air con in this weather how often should you need a regas ? Yeah, the 7 hour drive yesterday was not that pleasant when the sun came out. Mine was regassed about 3 years ago so I suppose it could just need redoing then. Thanks for all the advice. Guest Blata
Just a few notes, need to run A/c regularly to prevent seals drying out, joints etc. the practice of re gassing without finding the leak will become illegal very soon so costs will soar.
