350Z - just not doing it for me.

I've never liked them - but I admit it's mostly a styling thing and I don't really know much about them. I do know they are supposed to be pretty good cars to drive.

The guy I bought my Supra off had a 350Z as well. The reason he sold the Supra was because it wasn't being used enough (he had another car as well, but can't remember what).

Unfortunately I think we need to realise that the 350Z and the RX8 is the future of the Jap performance scene. What else is there that is comparable?

I really like the 350Z though. I think unless Toyota pull their finger out and release a MkV in whatever form, then we'll find a lot of Supra owners migrating over.

For about a year, I used to get a lift to work in an RX8. I would compare it to my dads Celica. OK it's quicker but it's nothing like as nice. I guess usual Mazda build quality compared to Toyota's.

Don't forget the new Skyline which we will be getting next year. It'll no doubt cost a fortune but at least one Japanese manufacturer is still going for huge performance.

Nissan's Urge (MX5-a-like) should follow shortly too.

FWIW I took a 350Z for a test drive. It does handle very well, better than my Supra (it was on local roads so I can compare) but the interior was too plasticky and when I told the salesman it wasn't even close to the Supra in terms of performance he didn't argue.

I'd still like one though. Just with some more oomph.

Im not a fan of the 350Z have driven them afew times to. The interiors is just pants, its just a big lump of plastic.

The RX8 I owned one when they first came out and lost 10k on it in 2yrs.:stickpoke I would defo not have another, alothought the drive etc on them is good and they have plenty of grip they are just slow. Oh and it cost more to run than my TT and the engine will no doubt die and cost a fortune to re-build like the RX7. Not to forget the engine flooding etc etc.

I reckon the lexus LF-A will be a beast of a car-has more shades of the mkiv than the toyota hybrid thing.

500 hp V10 -no doubt there will be a twin turbo kit available for it before it even comes out!

I'm more likely to go to a Honda S2000 than a 350z when I eventually sell the supra.

The Honda is probably more reliable, quicker and possibly cheaper to run (although insurance is a bit high on them) than a 350z.

Plus i have never owned a convertible and would like to try one at some stage in my life.

I've driven a 350Z. Nice car to drive, goes well, its ok.

Its ugly though, and the interiors a bit naff. I'd never buy one, just leaves me cold.

There are parts of the 350 design I like, there are parts that I hate, there exterior door handles for one.

The interior quality is poor, I had a look around one in a Toyota showroom just before they were launched. I was fiddling around with everything as you do and the centre door on the dash came off in my hands, the thing was so badly designed and the hinge broke with very little force. I made a sharp exit after that :run:

They are quite popular here and there are some very highly modified examples, some of the bodykits available are wild, some are just plain ugly though.

I agree with you there. Nearly ripped that off Kev's car first time I got in it ;)

The cup holder is bad too.

Ah so it was you that broke it! Thats coming out your pay boyo!:p

Really enjoy driving the 350 it handles well and has plenty low down grunt, just need to get the twin turbo kit fitted to give it a bit of more top end power.

Second what people say about the interior, but thats what carbon dash kits and uprated bucket seats are for. I think this car will be the short to medium term sucessor to the supra until Toyota pull their finger out.

Thats the problem with many modern cars they all look too similar-It has shades of the Audi TT in it for me.

Back in the day (and still now) nothing really looks that much like the Supra apart from them Hyundai Coupe things.

And dont forget the FTO....so many people(idiots) always mistaken an fto for a supra...

At least it has a cupholder!! not a single one in my supra :( keeps it clean though as no danger of spilling a mega huge cup of Costa coffee over my nbice new leather seats ;)

Mind you, I wouldnt say no to a spin in the SVA Imports 350Z in the EDC this year, Ralph Crampton's last year, Mark Looneys now - absolutely awesome sideways! then there's the SUMO powered 350Z, tim Marshalls in the D1GB last year, now in the time attack....and still going sideways round the corners!!! :ecstatic:

I may tinker with a 350Z, but a Monaro is more likely, or maybe a Corvette or perhaps an Esprit V8TT.

TBH Toyota are too far gone on the eco band wagon to make interesting cars & I'm not convinced the LFA or mkv Supra will be sold here.

To me, the 350Z is a different beast to the Supra for one very important reason: it's only got 2 seats.

Where at least some semblance of practicality is required, the Supra was the absolute danglies. If you want to start looking at 2-seaters, there's a crap load of cars you can consider.

Look instead for a 2+2, and there's not really that many options....

I do like the 350z as say an alternative to a high end Audi TT.

A mate bought one recently and i thought the dash layout with built in SatNav and Bluetooth kit was pretty cool (looked great at night in a fairylight kind of way)

It is not a replacement for a Supra in my eyes...but then i dont think there will be for quite some time.

Though there is a stop gap..but it aint cheap and thats the C6 Corvette!

If I hadn't owned a Supra the 350z would be on my wish list when it came out, but i been spoilt...and id feel performance wise it would be a step back in some respects...nice car though..

The 350Z is evolution of the mainstream sports car in the modern world and it achieves exactly what it sets out to accomplish.

Personally I like the look of it and have seen some lovely tastefully modified examples. Take Glyns "Afreemason" - his was lovely.

If for a next car I can't afford a 911 then I'd consider this as the next alternative.

RX8 is ok but soooooo thirsty on fuel.
