chilly
Sheefa, Dont sell. There is no way you'll be able to drive a car worth £1000! You will hate every minute of it! Everyones got a bit of debt, but atleast your debt places a smile on your face when you drive it!! I know you,ve had alot of problems with it reading previous threads, but don't do it. You will stay a member on this site and every itme a pic is posted you'll wish you hadn't sold. You'll then get so pee'd off you'll end up buying another!! Think about it, if your still intending to join the RAF everytime you go on a detachment ( 4-6 months) think of the money youll save. You'll beliving o camp therefore no need to drive everyday. Muffleman
Right, I know this is gonna get flamed and open me up for a torrent of abuse BUT I owned a Rover 600Ti Now I've got that out of the way, it was a 2.0 turbo with 200bhp and left most 3 series wondering if they had bothered to press the accelerator Drill a few holes in the bottom of the airbox and you get a nicer noise and can hear the stock dump valve, cost of mod ? £0 Think I put a Mongoose exhaust and different panel filter on mine. Went well, was comfy, no one bothered me in it. All yours for less than £1k

Chris Wilson
You can't beat a RWD Volvo as a low cost reliable workhorse. I have driven NOTHING else for the last 15 years, and it's ultra rare for me to have ever had to do any dirty work on them at all. They are a bit thirsty, but the reliability makes up for it, and they are easy to repair if they SHOULD go wrong. OE and pattern bits are everywhere, and the scrap yards are full of older ones, with good parts interchangability. Find an auto without a tow bar and its probably had an easy life. My old estate has done 350K miles...
Chewie
Get yerself a mid 90s Suzuki GSXR 1100. Loads of fun. Probably more than a Supe. If you like fast cars then you'll love fast bikes. Out accelerate most things on the road and combine that with the high adrenaline pumping risk that you can get killed simply sitting on it. Chris Wilson
The lads having a terrible spell of bad luck, do you REALLY think an 1100 cc bike is the thing to buy just now? I would avoid a turbo car for now, too, I am not sure if I could bear to check this forum after he bought something else with a turbo on it
Sheefa
LOL thanks Chris - Volvo would work for me and yes I'll be staying away from turbos for good! Chilly, I have to sell mate. This car is utterly jinxed - TRUST ME. Greg

Sheefa
I don't beat around the bush and I most certainly won't be selling it to a member on here. Who knows it could be sorted as soon as I cease my ownership of her!

Conrad
Greg, as already mentioned the 5th Gen Celica (90 - 94) They still look good imo even after all these years. The MR2 is a nice looking car too but lacks the size you want. You can also pick up the Gen 6 Celica for around 1200 quid. Now they can look nice in black with decent wheels. I´ve owned three of these and they go forever. My ex still drives my old one with 150k plus on the clock. Look here for Gen 6 Toyota reliability too, although maybe I shouldn´t be saying that to you of all people! I know you said 1000 quid budget but for the sake of a couple hundred more I´d take the Gen 6 all day

Chewie
Yeah I can stretch to about £1500 if the right car comes along I suppose. Or the right bike [GRIN][/GRIN]. Cheaper insurance, less space more economical, more dangerous, more fun and you get to wear leather.
francis
Honda CRX Mk2, you'll definitely be able to get a 1.6 16v for that, maybe even a VTEC if you're lucky. Great cars, fun to drive, decent economy and fine on long drives.
Tom
Looking for something as well for that budget, seen an St185 that looks in reach, CRX is a good one to check out too, or maybe an old 3 series? E30 shape?
TrickTT
Not sure if anyone's mentiond it yet Greg, but i'd get a Mondeo ST24. Ultimate sleeper car. Nearly as fast as an NA and full of toys. They drink less fuel than yours, easy to service and fix and handle real well. You can pick one up for less than £1000 these days.
