What type of engine oil do you use for a non-turbo please anyone?

Hi mate,

 

I was advised by a mechanic on the forum to use magnatec 10 40

 

You will need around 5.5 litres if you are replacing the oil filter - which is obviously advisable.

 

Set me back around £40.

I was originally advised to go for this but in an N/A the magnatec will be fine and a bit easier on the £

 

However, I believe the story is different for a TT.

Looks like you really want some Fully Synthetic 5w30-10w40 (Silkolene or similar) with an interval change at around 8-9,000 miles.

10w-40 semi will be ok if you cange within ever 5k or so, dont bother with Magantec, over priced and not all that. A well branded 10w-40 will be just as good.

 

Ideally though a 5w-40 synthetic and they may be cheaper then you think, we have then around £30 for good quality 5w-40 oils.
