Women drivers again!

Only safer because there's less of 'em so stats prove they're safer. Hence Diamond, Sheila's wheels etc.

No it's more because they base it on number of licences out there. My mum has a licence, she hasn't driven for 27 years!!! So according to them she's one of the safest drivers in the country!

Yesterday I went to Dan "The Mapping Man" in Milton Keynes to swap seats with Kopite, so the usual M25->M1 routine.

The whole drive up there was one Peugeot 106 or Zafira after another sitting in the outside lane doing 50-60 Mph with an almost empty middle lane, huge queue of traffic building behind them.

On the drive back down with nearly empty roads (21:00 onwards) there was just one car after another sitting in the middle lane causing me to go from inside to outside to overtake and back to inside lane again, felt like I was doing a slalom course.

All the drivers were blokes.

I don't care what the gender of the driver is, I just want them to be more observant!

we are not all like that - although i dont class myself as a woman driver - more like a girl racer! and i am very good at parking my supe i squeeze him into the smallest parking spaces - and i have respect for other drivers on the road - and certainly dont upset other drivers - and as for saying woman are only good for one thing - thats just rude, what an a*rse. Also i have a clean license and 10 years no claims - i was told by blokes not to get a supra cos i wouldnt be able to drive it - now they are shocked!

What annoys me about some women drivers is that they very rarely thank me for letting them through, if for example there's an obstruction on their side of the road. Blokes tend to put their hand up in thanks (either that or they're giving me a variation of the w*nk hand :D ), but lady drivers don't often seem to give thanks when I've let them out of a junction or whatever. They usually look at me as if I'm a piece of sh*t on their shoe. A little politeness goes a long way, then we can all get on better.

That's something to do with average propoertions of body shape. IIRC men have longer torsos and arms in relation to their legs, so a short man will be able to sit further from the wheel then an equally short woman.

or something.

That's why I find washing-up hard and my other half doesn't.;)

Tell you what come drive here in Holland near where I work. The women in cars are significantly more aggressive than their male counterparts and especially so in the older bracket say late forties to sixties.

As far as accident ratios go have a look on any busy road at the drivers in the car. I'd say easily 75% are male. Take a look at cars you pass, if there is a man and a woman in a car almost always the man is driving. Women also make alot less unnecesary trips than men do so by pure statistics women will be involved in less accidents than men. As for driving ability its all down to an individual be they male or female (some of my male friends attention span on the road positively unnerves me, whereas some of my female friends complete lack of observation also gives me the willies).
