RedM
Me and a colleague went as guests of Silverline who are one of the sponsors of the Seat team. This was our base for the day. After tucking into bacon sarnies we went on a guided tour of the Seat garage. What little engines! Lacking the necessary tools I had to leave these brakes on the car. This is where a BTCC driver goes to work. Blurriness is used to infer conditions on the cockpit. *cough* There was some racing too.... Best of all though was the Porsche GT3 race. These sounded amazing and went like stink. All in all, it was a great day. We got to meet Jason Plato and Darren Turner. I managed to rib Plato about his driving (he'd nudged a Vauxhall in race two and lost a front wing). I've got a signed hat to stick on Ebay too. All this plus more food and drink than I could eat. All of it really high quality. Summary: Hospitality days rock!
AJI
I was thinking of going along to watch this also.... wish I had now as I watched it on TV and it looked like a cracking event of races. I used to go and watch the BTCC and GTs at Croft every year but last time I went some thieving pikey scum stole my wheel dust caps. There is no real car park secrurity which puts a lot of people off. He's a funny fella is old Jason... I spoke to him at Silverstone a couple of years ago and he was on his high horse about some driving maneouvre he had pulled off which lead to a car being punted off How do you like Croft race circuit ? Is a good one for spectators isn't it.
Havard
Not been to the BTCC for ages. We used to go when we were Nissan fans. HAs the season only just started then?? May take the little un!! H.
AJI
Well the BTCC transformed over the past 6 or so years into a hatch-back championship which lost a lot of fans. Only just recently we are seeing the return of BMWs and Lexus which are more the type of cars that the championship suggests. But still I used to prefer it when it was more constructor based as opposed to private teams. Think Croft was venue 3 of the season ?? They've done Brands and Thruxton prior. rik
Watched a bit of this on tv last night. It somehow doesn't seem as good as when Clelland and Harvey were at it. Don't know why? It's better when you're there though i suppose, i went to Snetty to see them last year Good fun.
