markssupra
Just fitted hard pipe kit to rad and noticed the bloody top hose connection was cracked. Does anyone repair these rads (toyota manual shows it being done) over here or is it not worth the hassle.

markssupra
Great repair but I'm not sure about it fixing mine. I would have to fabricate a new top hose connection and somehow fix it into place. How long it would last with the hardpipe bouncing about is anybody's guess.
Konrad
New rad is not that expensive really and there is how-to on site with all pics and instructions.
Supra ST Myster
i had the exact same problem, after i clamped the hose down took the car for a spin and it was leaking by the rad, took the rad pipe off and the p clip had crushed the rad tube, i had some 25mm galv tubing in my van so cut that down and that fitted perfectly in there with a tight seal then clamped the hose on the new tubing and fixed the problem, pretty chuffed actually, plus you dont see it and it doesnt leak! markssupra
That may do the trick, hope there's enough left on the rad to clamp to.

Guest gzaerojon
Phoned a rad repairers in colchester this morning. They can fabricate a new top section in ally. £200 + vat. that's abit pricey if i was going to pay that i would just get a fluidine rad for not a lot more
markssupra
Thats what I thought. Worth a phone call I suppose. If I can only get a rad for a manual, would a fluidyne oil cooler work ok for the auto trans if it was fitted in passenger side airvent? Or would it need a fan as well. Thorin
£310+VAT for stock I believe.
markssupra
i had the exact same problem, after i clamped the hose down took the car for a spin and it was leaking by the rad, took the rad pipe off and the p clip had crushed the rad tube, i had some 25mm galv tubing in my van so cut that down and that fitted perfectly in there with a tight seal then clamped the hose on the new tubing and fixed the problem, pretty chuffed actually, plus you dont see it and it doesnt leak! Took your advice a stage further, thankyou. Cut the dodgy bits off the top hose connection and filed it back flat. Turned a new connection in ally with a very small lip on the end that fits into the rad. Only had one chance with this, so made sure all the measurements were right, applied some glue and pushed it into the rad until it clicked into place. That buggar aint coming out again.top hose Model.pdf
Supra ST Myster
yeah nice one, with the 25mm tube i fitted, it was a perfect tight fit and like yours it aint comming out! Plus know that now as driven the car quite hard and there isnt a drip comming from it!
Soonto_HAS_soop
I got a fully rebuilt unit, looked brand new tbh, for less than £150, but that was for a 6 Speed and not an Auto.
