trooper
Has anyone here had this system fitted to their car? What do you think of it and is this the best one? TDI Powertuning quote £245 plus fitting which sounds OK. Their page mentions 49BHP gain, I presume this is if fitted in conjunction with a proper exhaust which already gives 37BHP therefore a net increase of 12BHP for the intake alone. Looking to reduce turbo lag and increase acceleration of course.
jot_ie
I have one of those fitted to mine. Its a 98 j-spec vvti. Didnt fit it myself though, it was on it when I bought the car. Very much doubt if you get that kind of performance increase to be honest, if any at all really. One of the more knowledgeable guys may know more. One thing I do know is that it makes one hell of a whooshing noise when you put your foot down. I think it also amplifies the sound of the turbines spinning up. Also increases the sound of the blow off valve, if the valve dumps back into the intake. By the way, dont go for the hks racing suction kit. Its not for vvti models. Thats just about as much as I know on the topic. Hope its some help. Leaving this contribution open to correction. john
Nick
I've got one you can have for 80quid, needs a filter element though which is around 15quid. Makes a great noise but don't expect any power increase because you won't get any. Fitting is a doddle
trooper
Umm, So it won't go any faster but it'll sound like it does. Think I'll save my money. Is it the same story with an exhaust? No performance but lots of noise?
Nick
If you buy an exhaust and a cat replacement pipe then you're definitely see a power increase. You'll make more boost and the turbos will spool up quicker. If you replace both cats remember that you'll need to fit a Fuel cut device (recommend Thors) and a restrictor ring/boost controller too. The only people that claim a power increase from induction kits are the people selling them. I replaced mine with the std airbox with no noticeable difference except it felt a lot better on hot days, not sucking in hot air from the engine bay
