Ric
garmin are shite peter. designed like a childs colouring book, and not very accurate, takes ages to get a signal. Tomtom every time for me.
peter richards
maybe its just the way the guy was showing us , he reckoned the garmin was better , and more accurate plus it had speed camera detection already in as the tom tom didnt . but these two were the starting models

Paul
Peter, I got the TomTom one a few mths back and I'm well impressed. Free Camera software came with it with a years worth of updates but as said you get 'free' stuff online anyway;) The camera software would need loading (you get a code) so the guy in Halfords might not have done this. The screen size is ideal, you ain't watching films on it and it's just right, easy to see without being too distracting. On all these sat navs the camera alerts are handy but not as accurate as a proper camera detector, my Bel 550 tells me exactly where they are as opposed to someone giving a GPS co-ordinate for one and it tells me of 'live' cameras as opposed to empty boxes. I paid £149 for mine, have only used it properly for about three trips where I hadn't got a clue of the directions and it sorted me out, well worth the money imo as I'm shite with directions an get lost all the time so it'll soon pay for itself in the savings in extra petrol when lost:D Paul PS, not forgot cleaning stuff;) Will take a few mins and get my arse into gear in deciding what I need. Henk
I have a Garmin 660FM, I think it's awesome, don't have a bad word to say about it. Slimmer than the TomTom 910, traffic avoidance built in, speed camera database easy to synch with your PC. You can tune your radio to the Garmin and have the instructions piped through your hi-fi too (OK you cannot listen to music then but who cares my exhaust does the music!) No contest! Jake
You can tune your radio to the Garmin and have the instructions piped through your hi-fi too That's a good feature. I wish TomTom could do that.
