ManwithSupra
With regards to the cooling system on the car. If you were to replace the Viscous Fan with an electric setup would this unlock some hidden horses? Also if you were to replace the engine water pump with a electric one would this free up a horse or two.... such as http://www.siemensvdo.com/products_solutions/cars/powertrain/engine-actuators-air-and-emission-management/electric-water-pump/electric-water-pump.htm and you guessed it... The same with the power steering pump.
SimonB
In a word, no. The viscous fan puts a load on the engine when it's needed, but so does an electric fan, via the alternator, and this is less efficient as it involves converting motion to electricity and then back again. It does free up a load of space at the front of the engine though...
