Supragal
I don't get it... surely if they induced her it just happens?? I am clueless about this kind of stuff however...
Jake
I don't think so Rosie. I believe it just gets the process started. Though I'm no expert - thank God. Poor old Laz. It must be hell for him.
AlanM
Inducing does not always take immediate effect and sometimes has to be repeated. Could be a wee while yet
Rob
What is "inducing" BTW? How does it work? I have no experience of childbirth at all, well, I have one experience but I wasn't best suited to observe.
Rob
From the Wiki... The Lamaze Technique is a prepared childbirth technique developed in the 1940s by French obstetrician Dr. Fernand Lamaze as an alternative to the use of medical intervention during labor. Dr. Lamaze was influenced by Soviet childbirth practices, which involved breathing and relaxation techniques under the supervision of a "monitrice" or midwife. The Lamaze method gained popularity in the United States after Marjorie Karmel wrote about her experiences in her 1959 book Thank You, Dr. Lamaze. Modern Lamaze childbirth classes teach expectant mothers breathing techniques and often other ways to work with the labor process to reduce the pain often associated with childbirth, such as hot and cold packs, changing positions, the use of a "birthing ball" to remain in an upright position, and orgasm to induce or hasten labor. Orgasm?????!!1!!!!!1WTF!!11!!OMFG!!! Seriously? Im thinking the lady would be saying "I'm not really in the mood for this"
Eve
All sounds very stressful and scary; best wishes to the expectant couple!
Tigger
Inducing just encourage it to happen. But if the baby really isn’t ready then it can take some time. Just spoken to Katie. Told her Gerry has started this thread and She says hello to you all:) The News so far:- Katie was induced at 09:30 yesterday morning went into full labour at 20:30 yesterday evening . Still no little man:( Katie has now had an epidural to help with the pain. She has only had five hours sleep and hoping something happens soon. The baby defiantly takes after his dad….Poor thing. Just getting them off the camera now, gimme a sec... ...and Henk, If you had tried doing any videoing at about 02:30 on Sat morning you would have recorded a lot of very foul language and then she would have probably rammed the camera up your ar*s! (hence the Epidural) Satan would have been no competition!

Lazarus
Pics... 1. In the recovery room (I did take a pic in the Theatre but Katie probably wouldn't like to see that one on here), now that is one happy Mom! 2. This morning, Mom still happy because he fed at around 23:30 and slept all the way to 05:30 3. Still asleep (lazy bugger!) 4. What a handsome boy. (Wonder where he gets that from?) 5. Grandma's first hold... and the only reason I included it is because it gives a good idea of the size of Cameron.
