Fitted HKS SSQV blow off valve

I always thought that they sounded a bit like someone sneezing . . . perhaps you can alter it from mild hayfever to full on bronchial pneumonia or something?

I just had a quick look on the web and it appears you have to change the insert to change the sound, and the only adjustment referred to is for the spring tension pressure, so you can set the back pressure required to make it fire.

Don't got touching the bolt on the back expecting it to change the noise.

It's to change the relief pressure for the value, doing so may cause damage to your turbos if you adjust it too much.

It sets the point at which the BOV releases the excess pressure.

i.e. it can be set so that for a small drop in boost pressure (slightly taking your foot of the accelerator) will NOT dump ALL the built up air pressure.

I think the HKS BOV can have a kind of trumpt-thinger-me-jig fitted to make the sound different.

DON'T touch the BOLT unless you know what you are doing and can test the pressure release point.

You see Adam,i bet you havent got a boost upgrade yet.The more boost you have the better noise you will get.Best is when you have a FMIC and then you bolt it on the new IC pipe exactly next to the manifold. You get really loud noise (Used to have the same on my ex-wrx).It was fantastic for scaring people. Was so funny they were jumping a lot of times.Cant wait to get a FMIC on my supra...

The chirp sneeze noise is very different to mine, I get a definite loud whistle, but I've got an FMIC fitted, running 1.3bar so I guess this could make a fair bit of difference to the noise of the BOV.

I do get a kind of chirp sneeze noise if I just go over 2k rpm and the 1st turbo starts then back off. Do you have a boost gauge fitted, what boost are you running?
