Jake
In a moment of madness I took a bet that Terry Jenkins wouldn't win tonight's premier league darts. He's now in the final and just 3-2 to Phil Taylor. (on sky sports one if anyone's intersted) If Jenkins wins it I'm down £775.

Jake
A fool and his money are easily parted How's it looking now?? Fingers crossed for you Jake It's all over now. Jenkins got thrashed 16-6 (or something like that) so my money is safe. Taking largish bets at short odds isn't necessarily foolish. The bookies do it every day. mathew
1/7 on for taylor to win? if so what were the odds on the other dude?
Jake
1/7 on for taylor to win? if so what were the odds on the other dude? They were up and down all the time during the match depending on how it was going. At one time Jenkins was 5/1 but later he was 28/
Pot
Blimey Jake, I'd always thought about doing it that way, but have never gone through with it... Might start off with a fiver, and go on the favourite each time (but not the horses, seems the favourite isn't as 'reliable')... Out of interest, does anyone know how the tax thing works on bets?.. Yeah you're taking quite big risks sometimes. I lost £170 when Rossi didn't win the MotoGP last weekend. The worst I've had in single bet is losing £555.56p (exactly enough staked to win £200) when ManU lost 1-0 to Wolves back in 2004. I almost never bet on horses, they're too unpredictable for my liking. Football is the best because a lot of other folks seem to bet with their hearts rather than being realistic. I've made shitloads out of footy betting over the last few years. About the tax thing, betting tax was abolished years ago. I guess you'd have to pay income tax if you were earning a significant amount. (I wish)
Mike
Out of interest, does anyone know how the tax thing works on bets?.. You pay the tax on your stake, you don't pay it on your winnings. Don't pay it on your stake, and you pay it as a percentage of your winnings.

Pot
Wahey!... I'm not fussed about not being a big betting man... Usually my ££ goes on the Sup, Rent, Vodka and Smokes - Binge drinking rocks!... All I need to do is to get into drugs and prostitution and then my life is complete as an evil man!...
