hiten55
Right, i know this has been covered LOADS of times, done a search, read the posts, rung around. and i still cant decide!! Im either going for a Toad A1606 or a Clifford 650mk2. These are the features im after: dual zone proxy tilt motion / body shock glass break (possibly) intelli start total closure (windows up and down) Text / sms alerting now i was thinking about getting a turbo timer but as the cars garaged i'll never use it (always let it cool down in the drive whilst i have a smoke). the sms system on the Clifford lets you start the car ext, unlock by text and control all the sensors. The toad one only lets you lock and unlock (not even disarm). BUT, and this is a biggie, the toad one also has a tracker function. i believe the Clifford doesn't. Clifford have a lot more accessories than toad but are a lot more expensive. they have also cut their range down dramatically without cutting prices.... i've been quoted £800 for the toad, fitted. still need to get prices on the Clifford, but both installers that i spoke to try to sell me either to toad or to hornet. totally confused as to what to do now. Any ideas anyone? please??
Graham S
To be honest, i've had a clifford in most of my cars, due to the fact they offer all that i want. But I will also admit that every one i've had has had problems along the line, with the first one I had (concept 50) being set off everytime we used the microwave! And with the concept *** on the supe, where the turbo timer won't turn off, the siren works when it wants to and it randomly warns me that someone is trying to break into my car! But I think Clifford seem to offer the biggest 'hype' with their products therefore seem to, in most peoples opinions, be the best.. End of the day, its what offers the best anti theft features, such as black-jax etc.. Try talking to a few dealers and see what they can offer. But £800 for a toad?? dam!, my clifford I think was 500ish, with intellistart, wondow closures, turbo timer etc..
hiten55
ive never been a fan of the toad alarms, allways had cliffords and never had a problem. but im reading good things about toad and hearing bad things about clifford, but they give the better accessories. must admit, £800 for a toad is alot but then the sms alert system is £250 alone... Don't the newer G5 cliffords have some sort of thing like that? I know phoenix-one has one of those and it has some thing on the remote with a pic of his car that tells him all sorts.. Would a cheaper alarm and a tracker not be a better option? Or you could always invest in a pimped fiat panda TT to park next to at night

Theres not much difference in a decent cheap alarm and a tracker to be honest, if anything, subscription wise, this works out cheaper (£30 per year subscription). i was wondering when the Panda would turn up heard from our granny humping friend today? Haha, no mate, i think he may have had a late one with the old dear and might be sleeping it off, or still at it! I see what your saying about the sms thing, but i'd be worried that if it was too sensitive and kept setting something off you'd be running back to the car ready to batter someone for no reason! So really its down to how good the installer is... (Matt H time maybe)
hiten55
i was worried about this, but you can tell it what to alert you on. so if the proximity sensor goes off you can te4ll it to not tell you. if however the tilt sensor is activated you can tell it to let you know. this would hopefully cut down on the false alarm dashes. Matt H? is he an installer then?

BASHTHEBISHOP
i've been quoted £800 for the toad, fitted. Any ideas anyone? please?? £800 wtf:taped: I paid £300 fitted 12months back and it has been spot on. I dont have SMS & was told it wouldnt work with the turbo timer installed. The installer kindly programmed it for having the roof off although this is the only bit that sometimes plays up.
