mkirby
Not sure if Jerome was a member on here but he was a long standing member on the 300zx.co.uk club He was found dead the night before last in his garage working on his car, not too many details on how he died but looks like a tragic accident. Was 27 years old no age to die. Anyway way thought i would post it on here as well just in case anyone knew him. RIP mate Mike

Pete
How awful. It's often gone through my mind whilst working under the Tiger in the garage what would happen if the axle stands slipped or something. If my rib cage would support the weight or I'd end up having a slow and painful death.

Do you???? Really, stop that now! A set of axles stands are only £10-20, not much to pay for a life is it?

Very bad. My old trolly jack started leaking and it gradually lowered the car without you noticing. Not good if you're relying on it! Jonny5
Thanks for letting me know Mike, awful, awful news:( I never met Jay but spoke to him over the phone a few times, he was the guy that bought my old 300ZX about 18 months ago, never got got to meet him as he bought my car just off photos and I arranged with him to drop the car off with one of his best friends... What a very sad and tragic loss....RIP Jay:( :( Jon

Thorin
Sad loss Axle stands and a block behind the wheels so it can't roll back! I would never get under a car just on the jack!
Soop Dogg
That's really sad. I have trouble even trusting the axle stands when I'm under the car. I tend to put the axle stands in place and then leave my big trolley jack in place too just in case the stands were to move for any reason, that way the jack will (hopefully) catch the weight. Homer
My condolences to his friends and family Something like this could so easily happen to any one of us car enthusiasts. I had a very scary slip last week, had the car jacked up to the max high on a trolley jack, went to slip the 1st axle stand underneath (was lying down on my back under the rear). Just as I was under, the jack rolled back and slipped off the axle, luckily it caught on the rear cross member, otherwise I doubt I'd be here now. Guess luck was on my side that day...
