Hi!

Anyone of you got a clue what this could be? Can i just remove it and make it "stock" again?

The white marking: Speed Sensor

The black marking: "The thing"

The red marking: A cable that grounds the "thing".

It must have something to do with my strange speedo. My speedo-dial is the standard j-spec 180km/h, BUT the needle reads in MPH, and there is absolutely no converter anywhere behind the dash or @ ecu. And i want my speedo back and reading in km/h since im swedish. You get what i mean? :)

I can't acces the picture but would assume it's a speedo convertor. It can just be removed and the speed sensor wire reconnected.

Strange :S Anyways its a picture of the underside of the gearbox where the speedsensor is attached to the box. And the thing is very little, twice the size of a nail and very thin. Like a coin thin. Rectangular shape.

Ah, pic works now. I was way off! Sorry but I have no idea what that is.

Haha, but well can't it be somekind of resistor that makes the signal weaker from the sensor? So my speedo needle "moves" slower?

If it's interupting the signal pre ecu it's a very bad idea. The power assisted steering uses the speed sensor feed to adjust the assistance, if it's interupted prior to the ECU it could mean over-assistance at higher speeds (not pleasant to drive).

Probably best you wait for one of the more techie guys to come along and offer some advice :)

Yeah, any techie guy got some advice for me?? Going to install my new speedo today and im planing on removing this thing. Maybe Paul from Whifbitz know what it is since the car is bought from him at 1st before arriving to sweden and the thing must-ve been fitted in UK.

Homer, you were right on spot from the start, it was a speedo converter from kmh->mph. Now I removed it and voila it's back on kmh again. :D :D

Ahah, good news mate :)

Never know a convertor to be installed there before! How odd.

Yeah very odd. Now I wonder if my ODO/Trip is KM reading instead of MILES, since this converter must've changed the signal to the ODO unit to?
