Dentist. What do I do?

Salt water rinse morning, midday, and night, and neck some ibuprofen. That can help deal with the pain and infection.

NHS dentist cocked up my root canal, I had to go private to get it sorted. Cost a lot but MY GOD is the service, equipment, ability, attitude etc etc better!

I agree its hugely noticable, you def get ya moneys worth...my Dentist actually makes me laugh hes a bit of a comedian and he takes my mind off the pain coz he just cracks me up...its difficult trying to keep still coz i laugh too much..used to be terrified of Dentists once...I dont begrudge paying for anything where they do a good job.

I actually drifted off twice during the remedial work on the root canal :) I was properly numbed up and had this latex dental dam thang going on that isolated my tooth so she could work on it!

If you have an urgent problem to do with your health, why do you have to book time off work?

Just tell them you can't work as you are and take the emergency appointment you told us about early on in the thread. Then you'll be better almost straight away and you'll be able to work at your full capacity sooner.

Because I've not been here long so I don't want to give them the wrong impression.

Plus it hurts, like all the time, but it's nowhere near as bad as a tooth can be I'm sure of it.

All you need to do is phone nhs direct, ask for the PCT on call dentist and youll be seen that day There are about 4 or 5 in each county. Im the east Surrey PCT day cover surgeon

thing is, I don't think it's THAT urgent, but it is more than 8 weeks urgent.

I think I will just have to go private. Just can't afford it right now.
