ECU Mapping and Whifbitz.co.uk

Throw me a friggin bone here!!!!

I am looking to change the octane level on my recently purchased Supra TT (Jap import).

I have spoken with a guy called Paul Whiffin from Whifbitz and he seems to think that I will need to spend about 1k to get it sorted!?!

Does this sound about right? Can the Jap manu. standard ECU not be mapped? Are Whifbitz worth dealing with?

Any help here would be hot:devil:

Cheers

Why are you resetting the octane level are you using some other aftermarket ECU on your j-spec machine??

I've got the MINES unit and it runs fine on Optimax...no changes and I run at up to 1.3bar without any real issues.

Can you give us thespec of your PC to work out where to go from here?

Cheers

I have just bought a front spoiler and turbo boost gauge from him and he was very helpful on the phone to me previously. I think Paul usually knows what he's talking about.

Just stick Optimax and millers in your tank like the rest of us.

Mate looks like you have Veilside alloys same as me.

Mate - you lost me after "I've got the...". As far as I know its a standard ECU - nothing extra.

The reason I am looking to change the octane level is that a few friends of mine have had engine probs. running UK fuel (Super unleaded) through a Jap engine mapped for Jap fuel.

How is yours set-up? If I dont need to I'd rather put that 1k towards some nice ICE:cool:

However, if its worth me investing in some software/hardware so I can do it myself then I am all ears!!!

Thanks for the reply

Wasn't there a thread a few months back, where the conclusion (offered by Lord M, if i remember rightly) was that the petrol available in Japan was of the same octane level as here in the UK ?

I recall it was the same as Optimax at 98 RON. 100 RON was available at some garages but was not the norm.

Just stick Optimax (RON98-ish) + Millers Octane Booster (+1RONish) = RON99+ ish

in your car and it will be most fine.

A full tank of Optimax + Millers Octane booster = £57 ish.

So there you are. I just saved you £943 already.

cheers
