Jake
My Outlook 2003 crashes when it goes to download an email. If there's no email to download it doesn't crash. I've tried three different email addresses and it crashes for all of them when there's email to be downloaded. I've tried deleting and making a new PST file but it still crashes. I done an outlook repair from the Office CD. Any suggestions? I'm using Outlook Express for the moment but it kinda sucks compared to o'03 (but it doesn't suck as much as o'07)
Homer
Are there any errors recorded in the event log?
MaveriK
Sounds like its a little fecked. Try going to add/remove programs, selecting MS Office 2003 and then click change. This invokes the wizard and chose the repair option. Works 9/10 in my experience. Good luck

Guest Geneb
check the pst folder size , then archive if its nearly 2gb its meant to handle 4gb easily but it doesn't i hit this prob a few times a month now. it a funny one cause you cant really do anything until you resize the pst file

(I dont care what Microsoft say, Office 2003 doesnt work with Vista) No, the other way round, from Vista back to XP. It was fine in Vista. check the pst folder size , then archive if its nearly 2gb its meant to handle 4gb easily but it doesn't i hit this prob a few times a month now. it a funny one cause you cant really do anything until you resize the pst file The pst was only 18mb but like I said, I deleted that. Jake
shame ur not closer to us bud you could have called in and let us fix it F.O.C. Thanks but how would you fix it though?
Jake
Oh FFS. I've ballsed it right up now. I tried replacing the msmapi.dll with a newer version after some advice from Nick (Thanks mate) but it didn't fix it. So I thought I'd try the repair option again. Then like a twat I clicked on Remove rather than Change and it just went ahead and removed everything! No "Are you sure?" or owt like that. So now I need to recover my pst file to get back an important email I got the other day. (Yes I know I said I deleted the pst file but I had just renamed it really)
MaveriK
PST file will be safe bud, it doesnt get deleted especially if you have renamed it. Do you not have the CD to reinstall?
Guest Geneb
Thanks but how would you fix it though? Export the PST file completely remove office clean install then import the pst file back then if it still screws up read all the error messages and run a full hardware diagnostic on your system to make sure you dont have any failing memory and test your HD.
