ads274
Oh right, so its the only uk gig then hopefully it wont be cancelled... Its annoying that they do so many great shows that dont come to england, such as bloodstock. Another show id love to see is DT touring with symphony x, two of my fav bands but the nearest is paris
Bobbeh
What about the Dynamo Festival in Germany, is that still going? I remember that used to be massive with lots of Metal bands in attendance.

Noy sure if Dynamo is still going, it was cancelled for a couple of years due to problems with where it is held, there still tons of proper metal festivals in Europe, Wacken, Graspop, Hellfest, Punklepop, and then theres Rock am Ring at the nuremberg
ads274
Not at the moment. Having quite a dull year concert wise. Only seen trivium in pompey and thats it, and maiden but that was just before xmas. What about you, heartworm?
heartworm
Im at Download at Donnington, its become a bit of tradition really and doesn't really matter whos playing still go, but Maiden, machine Head, Slayer and Napalm Death will make it for me, If I can get time off work going to head to Bloodstock too, Arch Enemy being there has really sold it to me with Testament. Bobbeh
Nurburgring? That'd be a cool concert.. rock and race in one long weekend
ads274
I love pretty much every band you mentioned, therefore im very jealous!
heartworm
Nurburgring? That'd be a cool concert.. rock and race in one long weekend Unfortunatly from what I hear its not really possible.....stage across the track, all the videos of it look very, very cool. Download is getting far too expensive, bit Bloodstock is only £60 for 3 days of music, camping and the parking is included too What Dream theatre would you recomend to a newcomer to them? ads274
Thing is with dt is every album is different. if you're a real metal head then i'd try a song like 'this dying soul'. 'endless sacrifice' is one of their newer classics. 'a change of seasons' is amazing (its 25 mins long!). You can listen to two of their new songs on their roadrunner page http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/artists/DreamTheater/music.aspx
ads274
I posted a video of their gutarist (john petrucci) playing a ridiculous solo in this thread. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=111681&highlight=virtuoso If you play an instrument then you will feel quite depressed after listening to them as the talent is unbelievable. Animal
For more good death metal stuff, check out Lamb of God, they're at D/L this year. Chris Adler is one of the best metal drummers around at the moment (along with Dave Lombardo, Paul Bostaph & Joey Jordison) and really uses his kit well - quite a fresh sound for a death metal drummer. 'Hourglass' is a top track. Dream Theatre are definately a 'muso' band. Technically they are all brilliant, but it's all a bit poncey for my liking. My top 10 death/speed/grind songs would be (in no order): Slayer - South of Heaven Testament - DNR Sepultura - Arise Napalm Death - Suffer The Children Exhorder - Desecrator Deicide - Deicide Carcass - Blood Splattered Banner Deicide - Blame it on God Lamb of God - Hourglass Cannibal Corpse - Devoured By Vermin

ads274
Slayer - South of Heaven Sepultura - Arise Awesome songs/albums. I wish we were still getting albums like these and reign in blood/master of puppets/beneath the remains/seasons in the abyss etc. Have u heard any new dt stuff, animal? i would see your point on their older stuff but check out their new song "the dark eternal night" in the link i posted earlier, its pure heaviness (without growling as well, which i dont like ) And can i have a quid from every person that spells dream theater wrong

There's very little nowadays that sounds a good as some of that stuff. Like I said; Lamb of God are the best thing I've heard for a while, but might be a bit 'growly' for you. Have u heard any new dt stuff, animal? i would see your point on their older stuff but check out their new song "the dark eternal night" in the link i posted earlier, its pure heaviness (without growling as well, which i dont like ) Okay - I'll give you that one. That's fairly classic thrash stuff. Reminded me of a mix of early Testament, Death Angel and Flotsam & Jetsam.
ads274
I quite like lamb of god Which song did you listen to on the roadrunner page? It sounds like you listened to the song 'constant motion' as thats more the early thrash sort of song. If you click the 'latest video' link underneath 'the dark eternal night' then thats the song i was talking about.
