Re-Using Turbo Pipe Gaskets

Is it possible? I am fitting my new Stainless Turbo pipes and when removing the old ones all the gaskets are perfectly (or look that way)

I am quite mechanically capable and do most things on my car myself but I have no idea whether these things can be re-used if they are undamaged or if they must be replaced?

Can anyone advise?

Thanks.

Lee.

I've replaced mine 2 or 3 times now using the same gaskets. It's not good practice, but I've not had any leaks at all.

:edit: Stainless pipes, or polished?

Polished mate!

Are they easy to get hold of - I don't mind buying new ones at all its just I need to get this done quickly and can't wait to order these - are they kept in stock by anyone usually or is it something you have to order and wait for?

Cheers

Cool - as I'm in a rush and they literally look perfect - look as though they have been replaced at some point - I''l put it back together and leak test it - I can buy some later on if need be as its not too difficult to get to 2 of them :)

Cheers for everyones help!! Much appreciated!

Cool mate, yeah you still have 1st dibs on the original pipes - in perfect nick, just not as shiny as my polished ones.

I'll order some, but that firegum - is that different than the exhaust gasket sealer GunGum?

Cheers

Intake pipes only leak air, not that much mess :rlol:

I've successfully reused multiple times:

Turbo outlet to diecast piping

Throttle body to intake plenum

Intake plenum to intake runners

Intake runners to cylinder head

Idle control valve to intake plenum

Generally, then, the black metal gaskets on the intake side can be reused. As long as they and their contact surfaces are clean, and the metal is unkinked and straight (look after them when you remove and store them) you can reuse them.

Anything exhaust side should be replaced, unless it's only a few days old. Having said that I did reuse the cylinder head to exhaust manifold gasket pair after a couple of months. They are expensive and they still looked OK, and it turns out they were :) This is on a single tubbie manifold though, much easier to pull again if it blew, unlike the stock turbo setup.

Also, anything oil or fluid bearing should be replaced as well - they are usually paper based and self destruct anyway.
