RedM
DVD: Toshiba sd220e TV: Toshiba 32zd26p Supra (yes, really!) component cables DVD player was working fine a few hours ago but now we get only sound. No picture at all. Plugs are all secure and TV set to EXT4 for component video. Cannot get DVD set-up menu but can get TV set-up menu on EXT4. DVD player works fine though SCART though! Assuming some failure with the component video how can I tell if it is the DVD or TV at fault? Any ideas?
terribleturner
Try on another TV I'd go with it being the DVD having a fault.
RedM
We only have one TV and don't know anyone with Component Video inputs on their set.

Pete
My Toshiba dvd played up so I bought a new one and put it in the loft. That was two years ago. A couple of weekends ago I took it out to try with a view to throwing it, and it worked!! So my advice to fix your problem is put it in the loft for a couple of years. It didn't work. I expected it really as it wasn't an IT problem.
JustGav
Check no-one has fiddled with the config, and turned the component out off... my dvd recorder did that a while back after the kids fiddled with the menus
RedM
I don't think we can turn Component off! Also, we can't see any menus unless using SCART which makes me wonder if it isn't the TV.
RedM
Problem fixed. It turned out that the DVD output setting had been switched from Video (outputting though Component Video) to RGB (for use with SCART). This caused the lack of picture. The odd thing is that to do this requires several button pushes in the correct order. Deviate just once and nothing gets changed! So, between it being a-okay and then not there was a seven button combo keyed in on the handset!
