DannyW
i cant bite it but i bought a new set of nal clippers today. may have to be used for other things apart from cuttin nails:) Seriously it will work, numb it with bongela first then cut it open and let it bleed well. Suck as much blood out as you can, it will heal 5 times faster than normal.
edd_t
had 4 last week, the damn buggers. totally agree with the tea thing, helps loads. i find that a tiny bit of whisky before eating helps, numbs it a lot more than bonjella does.
Kranz
I get LOADS of feckin ulcers. Mainly from where I scratch or bite the inside of my mouth with my teeth. I'd suggest not biting or cutting it as an ulcer is basically just a cut in the first place. I've had them all my life and if a cure can be found I'll pay anything!!! There are cortisone steroid tablets that you can get from the doctor, and they're the only thing that has ever reduced the healign time for me. edd_t
how long does it take for yours to go? mine are usually 5 to 6 days.
Kranz
Up to 2 weeks. Not being able to eat or talk if they are bad! From the web: Treatment is usually not necessary. In most cases, the ulcers go away by themselves. Severe mouth ulcers (larger than 1 cm or lasting longer than 2 weeks) may need to be treated with an antibiotic called tetracycline. (Tetracycline is usually not given to children until after all the permanent teeth have fully developed, because it can discolor still-forming teeth.) Multiple, painful mouth ulcers may treated with an anti-viral medicine such as acyclovir. Powerful anti-inflammatory medicines called corticosteroids are used in rare cases. If you have an ulcer, you should not eat hot or spicy foods, which can cause pain. Mild, over-the-counter mouth washes or salt water may help. There are over-the-counter medicines that soothe the painful area. These medicines are applied directly to the sore area of the mouth. . To prevent bacterial infection, brush and floss your teeth regularly and visit the dentist for routine care. To speed up healing, try mixing 1 part hydrogen peroxide and one part water and apply it to the ulcer with a cotton swab. Then dab a small amount of milk of magnesia on the ulcer 3-4 times a day. This also helps relieve discomfort.

RobDogg
Rub salt on it every 5 mins for say 30 mins. This is my test and trusted method. Works everytime. Lick your finger and then pour salt on it then rub the salt into it really hard, it is at this point your eyes start watering and 'I run round the house screaming. Then when the pain goes off do it again. after about 4 times it will start to go. Good luck
TLicense
I used to get them really bad in my teenage years. I found Ambesol (Could be Anbesol - NOT Anusol that's something different that you don't want to be rubbing in your mouth!) to be good as it just numbs everything. Stings like ferk when you first apply it though. The best cure I found, if you can call it a cure, is to just not do anything. Don't bite on it, mash it against your teeth, twiddle it with your tongue. Nothing. If it's on your tongue (where I used to get all mine) just try holding your tongue perfectly still. Doing that they would go within a day or two.

Pete
I get them at times of stress - always during exam times as a student. I just rubbed salt in them, hurts like buggery but they soon go after a few treatments like that.
AndrewOW
Well I used to get them all the time when I was younger, and it so happens I currently have 3 in various parts of my mouth at the moment. The best, but slightly unpleasantly smelly way of getting rid of them quickly, is to slice a garlic clove up, and put one of the slices of garlic directly on to the ulcer. It will sting for a time, then numb off. Obviously it will also stink, and won't be very pleasant, but swallow the garlic slice after, and make sure you do that a few times a day. Make some meals with garlic in them, and you'll notice they will go reasonably quickly (in about a week normally). Garlic has amazing antiseptic and healing properties in it. Aloe vera juice is good too, but that tastes foul! I noticed my ulcers went reasonably quickly after eating meals with garlic in them, so I just upped the concentration to see if it worked. It did. No one wants to get any where near me now though! lol
turbonut
12 hour shifts, late night revisin and this site has taken its toll and resulted in an ulcer. ive tried the bonjella and saltwater but are there any othr remedies? Well mate, you know whats caused it, you know you should take some time out and relax - prevention is better than cure!! Im trying to work full time and do a full time course of study and sometimes I just have to put my foot down and say, just for one eveing, I will RELAX!!! if I dont I'll get overtired and ill. Try and pace yourself, get more sleep, avoid sugary foods and caffeine (stimulants) instead of keeping studying really late, take some of your books/papers to work, use your lunch hour and breaks Hope you sort out the ulcers hun, take it easy Linda x
Chris Wilson
I was once told by a doctor friend they are often stress related, I have found this to be the case when I get them. Are you stressed? I find the local pub a great stress healer, but I am probably just moving from one medical problem to another like that
