You can usually tell them straight away. "We'd like to purchase 100 intel pentiprum CPUs please"... "Of course we'll ship abroad with no previous trading records on a dodgy promise. Yes sir I'm sure your name really is Mr Smith." It was weird because the cheque had the proper signature on. What they'd done is somehow got hold of an unsed cheque and a used one, and transferred magnetic ink section onto the old signed cheque. It was accepted and scanned at the cashier no problem. Sure enough, the funds were removed from our bank account a month or more later. The local bank commented that they'd not seen a copy this good. Just give the cheque back to the bank it came from, they can trace it back. At the end of the day - IT IS SOMEBODY ELSE'S MONEY.
