Lights On ??

Stupid question perhaps:

Is there SUPPOSED to be any 'Lights On' bulb/warning buzzer

or anything in the Soop'

There's the High-Beam 'blue' bulb, but no other side-light/dipped headlight warning ? ?

YES, I'm not blind, I can see the're left on once I've locked up

'cos I always check doors/hatch anyway ('walkaround')

But most/all cars have side or dipped warning bulbs (OR buzzer) !

Surely mine's just missing a bulb/buzzer-relay or something

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

The J-spec cars do have a buzzer that sounds if you leave the lights on with the door open. There is no dipped beam warning lamp.

The US-spec cars have an extra circuit that kills the lights (I think) if you leave them on while you exit the car.

Yes.

I got my Supra in late November and nearly all my driving was done in the dark. for the first couple of weeks, I never turned the light switch off.

I've now got automated light sensitive headlights courtesy of Clifford's nightvision, so I never need to touch my headlight switch at all:D

Mine has 'keys in ignition' - SO irritating! - but no beep for lights on - 99 times out of 100 switches the lights off with engine but not always...hence a very flat battery a few weeks ago! so I try to remember to switch off now. I got used to the buzzer in my MR2 & you get out of the habit of remembering! Mine is '93 GZ J-spec.

Did some checking today. Mine has the "keys in ignition" doing-doing-doing sound and a constant tone for "lights on". I couldn't get my lights to extinguish when I opened the door so I assume my car does not have this feature.

Maybe its a model year / option thing? Mine is an April 1994 SZ.

Does your car have BOTH "lights on" and "keys in ignition" beepers/buzzers?

Nope, just lights on.

My car is a 94 RZ.

To get the lights to switch off automatically you need to be inside the car with the lights on, then switch off the ignition, (still with lights on), then open the door... The lights go out.

I'd guess you either have a buzzer or auto switch off... But no t both

THANKS EVERYBODY . . . .

Checked mine today, same as some of you - I think :=

With any of the lights on (side/dip/main) if I turn the key

right off and remove, ALL LIGHTS SELF-EXTINGUISH.

Then, if you turn Light Stalk 'OFF' and on again (still with

key removed) lights WILL come on - I suppose so you CAN

leave car with side lights on and lock car ? ?

Seems strange BUT very logical when I think about it . .

You CAN'T leave lights on accidentally, even if you ignore

a warning buzzer. [ However you can't just jump out of car

and leave lights on to warn other cars, unless you OFF/ON ]

Key-in-switch with door open = BUZZER.

THANKS AGAIN.........

The irritating ding-dong noise with keys in ignition is easily stopped by unplugging the, errr, plug near the bottom of the ignition barrel. There are two of similar size, one white one black..... I forget which it is tho'

On my Soop , the lights stay on when the ignition is turned off but go out when the door is opened.

If you open the door before you switch off (Yep, just like with a turbo timer) the lights stay on and drain the battery ....... My wife did this a coupla days after fitting the timer

I keep meaning to look at the wiring schematics to find the solution ......... but if anybody less of a slacker beats me to it , please post:p

Oh, any tips on hooking up my timer with the Toad a16** Cat1 Alarm?? Matt H ?
