Few N/A questions from complete newbie

Hello all,

Have been browsing this board for over a year now and at the same time trying to track down a TT Supra. As i live over in N.I. TTs are extremely rare and of the 2 i`ve seen the high miles (100k) have put me off. However my patience just wouldn`t hold out and i`ve bought a nice low mileage unmodified N/A.

now the questions..... !

1. Starting up, is it normal for the engine to idle @ 1800 for approx 2 minutes then back to 800?

2. Mileage still reads kms, if i do the conversion does it reset all to zeros or convert the existing kms to miles?

3. Also got that rattle and knock over bumpy roads, checking subframe bolts tomorrow, anything else i should look for??

thanks for replies ...... these forums have been a mine of info

:)

1) Yes, perfectly normal

2) Neither, your existing milage will remain the same, you get a cert saying at what milage it was changed from km's to miles

3) Does it have wheels? :D

alignment, all wheel nuts tight, subframe bolts, sound suspension to name a few.

Firstly, 100,000 miles is nothing for a Supra.

1. Unless N/As are very different to TTs, 1800rpm is much too high. My (TT) doesn't idle above 1000rpm

2. As Lewis said, the odometer conversion won't change the existing reading. Dude can put you in contact with somebody to get your KMs reading converted to miles though.

3. Hard to say without hearing it. Could be front subframe or exhaust or (most likely) boot rubbers.

Have fun.

Jake, they are different mate, every NA I have been in / heard of idles at 1800 on a cold start.

Dunno why it is as high as that, but it is lol.

Run a search (@satsport) a few people have asked it before.

Yep, I can concur. Makes you really, really popular in winter when you have to de-mist the car before you can drive off :D

Any self respecting individual should have been up at least an hour by 7 AM, and preferably have already started work by then, bloody townies... :p Give `em some noise :sly:
