Guest edualc Posted May 19, 2007 Share Posted May 19, 2007 I wan to start up a supra that didn't drive for almost 6years The car has only 40000km (absolute perfect condition)and was always stored inside and dry. JustGav Posted May 19, 2007 Share Posted May 19, 2007 I would personally change fluids before anything, the brake fluid will be old and full of water, fresh set of plugs, oil... Make sure you disconnect the ignitors first and let it crank round a few times without firing, just to get some oil round the block first... Yeh, i'd go with that, deffinately let it crank a few times before letting it start as Gav said to get the oil circulating first.. Mas Posted May 19, 2007 Share Posted May 19, 2007 as mentioned above, but I would add to that and say dont drive it withought getting it fully serviced, as its a clean low mileage car its a shame to damage anything caused by driving it without getting it checked. 6 years?!! how could someone leave a supra kept away for 6 years !! If its been used in the engine & then left, yes. it degrades due to the combustion byproducts in it. Change Battery & plugs Change all fluids - Petrol, oil, coolant & brake fluid. Turn engine over by hand first using a socket on the crank pulley, then crank it over with the plugs out & fuel pump fuse disconnected. Make sure it makes oil pressure. absz Posted May 19, 2007 Share Posted May 19, 2007 my car was parked up for a few years before i started it. i replaced the oil+filter removed spark plugs and squirted some oil down the bores incase a piston ring was seized, then crank over engine with the plugs out for approx 15/20 secs a couple of times then fitted new spark plugs. and tryed starting the engine. the main trouble you might have as did i:( was that the fuel in the rail and injectors had turned to a jelly . so had to fit new. Once it is out of the sealed box it starts oxidising. The tyres as others have said may need changing, they'll be brittle and slippery by now. The fuel will have degraded also, separated inside the tank and the rail. I'd also change oil and fuel filters ASAP The brake calipers may also be stuck, be on the lookout, do not stress the car in any way until you are confident that everything works OK.
