stylieee Posted May 18, 2007 Share Posted May 18, 2007 think i may have managed to break my supra some how... tried to install thor fcd and a manual boost controller today. after install i started it up. took a bit to get it started then really eratic idle (would stall if i didnt keep on the accellerator a bit). so, i looked around and discovered that i'd got the MBC round the wrong way. switched it round the right way. then tried again. this time it just keeps turning over without starting. tried earthing the fcd to the body rather than the ecu. still wont start. tried removing the fcd (rewiring back to normal). still wont start. tried removing the pipe with the mbc in. still wont start. please help! i've only just got it back on the road after the front crank seal went... and now its broken again Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
jamesmark Posted May 18, 2007 Share Posted May 18, 2007 If the car has eratic idle then the Thor unit maybe faulty, I have had to get a replacement Greddy FCD from Thor as the ratio of getting a working Thor FCD is 50/50 (not my words actually MK47's) so looks as though you FCD maybe knackered, unless you can get it working again and just try the FCD by installing it then running it then switch off and turn it back on and if it still idle's roughly then it is faulty. I've heard of a few failures reported on the forum, but percentage wise it was very small. How did you wire in the FCD? Did you splice into the ECU 12v and earth? stylieee Posted May 18, 2007 Author Share Posted May 18, 2007 yeah dawes device type thing, so pretty much a bleed valve. have tried it with the vsv to actuator pipe disconnected also, still doesnt start. will check fuses though good idea. stylieee Posted May 18, 2007 Author Share Posted May 18, 2007 ok... all fuses seem ok. wiring seems ok, with earth connected. only slightly dodgy bit of wiring left is the wire that had to be cut for the fcd (cant remember the name of it), i've had to temporarily bridge the cut bits with another bit of wire as i didnt have any crimps. i was thinking that maybe its just flooded? as it smelt like it was overfueling just after i first installed everything (when it was running rough). possible? Chris and Alana Posted May 19, 2007 Share Posted May 19, 2007 I had 4 thor fcd's and they all produced different tyes of idling problems. One wouldnt let the car fire up for ages and when I got it started the idle was so rough it just stalled, the other two gave me rev fluctuation of about 200- 300 revs at idle which was also very bad and annoying and the 4th one kinda worked but still didnt allow it to idlke correct. Thor replaced it with a greddy one and it worked spot on and has ever since (I have to add that thor were very helpfull trying to solve this for me) Anyway, It is possible that you got one of the bad ones if you like and tryinf to start over and over has flooded the cylinders.
