Charlotte
Is anyone watching this? I can't believe how women are treated in their country. It's an appalling way to live, so much poverty.
Robert
I'm watching it, my girlfriend is Afghan. Just put it this way Charlotte similar things go on over here. She lives with me and has been since we were 17 (long story)
AndyT
Is anyone watching this? I can't believe how women are treated in their country. It's an appalling way to live, so much poverty. Afghans aren't as bad off as most African tribeswomen. Which is why no charity help helps. Also should see how women are treated in India and Middle East. Robert
if im honest mate, certain places around the world are just as bad. With the case of the Afghan women this program hasen't even touched on what really happens. Imagine being brought onto the pitch at the national football stadium and being shot in the head infront of your kids just because you showed part of your hand. I can't say Afghan women get better treatment that women in other countries but trust me some of the worst things you can image DO still go on. Its the caveman way of thinking that is the cause of it all.
Ewen
Sorry but I chickened out after twenty minutes. Cant deal with watching something that whilst blindingly sad, is just too far beyond my understanding. Women are mistreated, said women set themselves on fire. Its not a problem I can begin to get my head around, nor do anything about and so I'm blanking it.

Bobbeh
I watched it, amazing to see that so many people still live in the stone age - especially with many of the views about womens rights. Sad to see most of the money isnt going to where it should be.
JohnA
There are different family configurations, some totally different to the current 'Western' paradigm. It doesn't mean they are 'wrong', they are just different. They have survived many more centuries than the current western lifestyle, too. There was a time when matriarchical societies were the norm. Men were second-class members. Women could bring life, so they ruled the rooster. Was that 'wrong'? Of course not. Just different. Some countries wouldn't be proud of their young women slapping each other and urinating on the streets, half-drunk and stoned every Friday/Saturday. Should we nukem? Mike
Mate... this was just out and out poverty, abuse and all semblance of civilisation had left the building... I'm sure their cultures are different to ours, but these women were setting themselves on fire because they had lost so much hope, they would rather die in immense pain to prove their suffering than go quietly.... it was horrifying. I felt sorry for the women that had survived it... can life get any worse?
