how_supra
I've killed it. 50 yards from my house, the car cuts out, it turns over freely as you would expect it to, but doesn't catch. Any ideas on whats happened? I guess I'll drive the Supra to work then..........
JustGav
Starter isn't firing through... If it is turning it means it is getting power, I assume from the description that the bendix isn't going thru..

JustGav
The starter isn't kicking hard enough to push the little cog forward onto the flywheel to turn the engine over, instead it is missing it and just spinning itself..

JustGav
Okay, start with very basic troubleshooting, first spark... Pull a spark plug out, and put a screwdriver or something metal into it, and rest a short gap away from the engine, this should give you a small spark when the engine is turned over.. DON'T TRY HOLD OR TOUCH IT WHEN THE ENGINE IS BEING TURNED OVER OR IF THE IGNITION IS ON
LuxobargeTT
Cambelt as seems to be turning over too quick OR Crankposition sensor (which are common to fail, but don't normally make it cut out)
how_supra
ah okay......plan 2 will be put in motion I think in which case. I know a friendly garage who fixed my alternator last month. I'll ring them up in the morning and flap my arms a bit. Seems to work. Thanks guys
